Job Description
SecurityScorecard is looking for a smart, self-starting, and dynamic Director, Government Affairs (US), who will work closely with our VP of Global Government Affairs, to lead the company’s public policy development and advocacy for the United States. This proactive individual will be the policy team’s lead stakeholder for developing and managing relationships with think tanks, trade associations, cybersecurity thought leaders, and public policy influencers, educating them on the evolving security ratings industry, coordinating joint-research projects, integrating the company’s advocacy priorities with theirs, and creating potential revenue-generating opportunities in support of the company’s public sector sales pursuits.
What you will do:
- Work closely with the VP of Global Government Affairs to develop and implement policy, regulatory, and engagement strategies that advance the company’s global business at both the federal and state/local levels
- Advocate for the company’s priorities and participate in policy discussions with legislators and their staff, Executive Branch agencies at the federal and state levels, leading think tanks, non-profits, trade associations, other public policy influencers, and the company’s cybersecurity advisory board
- Build a coalition of security ratings advocates focused on impacting public policy and drive legislative, regulatory and sales engagement at the Federal and state levels
- Identify new partnership opportunities that support the company’s policy goals
- Develop and manage collaborative research efforts with third parties and leading cybersecurity policy experts
- Help develop concepts for new products, that solve problems, to sell to federal, state, local agencies
- Draft thought leadership pieces to educate policymakers and stakeholders on company’s proprietary products and raise the company’s profile
- Support the management of external consultants to advance corporate objectives
- Advise the company’s leadership on emerging trends and topics in cybersecurity policy that might impact the development of products and services
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, International Affairs, Government, related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Successful experience in cybersecurity public policy, congressional, or executive branch
- Exceptional written and verbal communications skills
- A creative thinker who can identify opportunities as they arise
- A self-starter who can take a project from idea to completion
- Experience working cross functionally with sales, brand, communications, marketing, and research teams
- The ability to work independently managing key day-to-day relationships with VIPs and meetings with stakeholders
- Located in Washington, DC
