Our Opportunity:

Chewy is seeking a Director, Maintenance and Reliability (M&R) to provide strategic and tactical leadership for developing a cross functional reliability team.  The goal of Chewy’s reliability team is to deliver predictable capital planning through the development of programs and strategies to maximize the useful life of company assets.  The primary responsibility of this position is to develop and execute a world class reliability program embedded across the FC Operations, Pharmacy, and Asset Risk Operations spaces.  Design for Excellence (DFX) methodology in this role will ensure capital solutions achieve specific objectives for safety, team experience, customer experience, reliability, and cost. This is a unique opportunity to drive end to end standardization and efficiency throughout Chewy’s fulfillment centers and assets.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop equipment and maintenance standards to eliminate hazards for operators and maintenance personnel required to maintain equipment performance, and enable field teams to deliver best in class equipment availability
  • Drive preventative and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and lifecycle
  • Develop and maintain SME level knowledge for safety, emerging technology trends, and world class maintenance practices
  • Develop and drive clear business driven metrics to track asset performance
  • Drive consistency of process, standards, and reporting across functional teams
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and support for field-based and central teams with the expansion and continuous improvement of Chewy’s North American Fulfillment, Pharmacy and Pet Care networks
  • Develop and implement long-term plans and short-term goals in furtherance of the organization’s vision, mission, and values.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders groups, vendors and contractors, community and outside technical support providers to maintain a network of support to improve existing properties under management and assure awareness of new opportunities.
  • Lead new projects, planning, and building management; review design and functionality of new FC development projects with developers and construction managers.
  • Contribute to the delivery of strategic and operational objectives by reducing facility costs, improving productivity, revenue generating capacity, and image of the organization.
  • Responsible for preparing and administering budgets. Assume ownership of key planning, budgeting and forecasting processes for areas of responsibility.

What you’ll need:

  • 10+ years of experience managing groups that provide diverse maintenance/engineering support
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Knowledge of mission-critical facilities infrastructure requirements, including interpretation and application of building codes and working knowledge of building codes and safety standards including OSHA, NFPA, NEC, UBC, and others as applicable
  • The ability to lead and execute through continuous improvement processes, and to then proceed to influence peers to adopt these best practices throughout the organization
  • Experience implementing and executing Reliability Centered Maintenance programs
  • Disciplined negotiator in large contract negotiations, able to balance cost, financial, quality and legal terms in complex negotiations
  • Proven leader with exceptional high-level strategic, operational, and interpersonal skills demonstrating broad expertise in FC facilities development, property management, construction with multiple sites and experience dealing with regulatory committees.
  • Successful track record of completing large-scale FC capital projects.
