We’re seeking a Director of Audience Development to help grow and maintain a highly engaged audience across Tripadvisor’s on-and off-platform channels, playing a critical role in transforming our audience growth strategy. This role will sit on our marketing strategy team and work cross-functionally with SEO, CRM, editorial, commercial, and product teams for both our B2C and B2B audiences. 

Job Location: Hybrid

This role is a hybrid position that requires 3 days per quarter in our Needham, MA or NY, NY office.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and implement effective strategies for distribution of traveler-facing and partner-facing content across owned and operated channels, with a priority focus on traveler-facing. 
  • Own reporting, analytics, and insights for editorial content performance.
  • Work closely with the marketing, editorial, commercial, and product teams to identify the right distribution channel mix, content positioning, and funnel optimization; advise on how to capitalize on key moments and opportunities.
  • Work closely with editors to optimize content for distribution channels based on insights.
  • Collaborate with marketing, growth, and editorial teams to identify new traffic opportunities and ways to reach and engage travelers; execute experiments and initiatives to hit goals.
  • Manage current social, content marketing, and merchandising teams.
  • Establish and oversee the growth and engagement strategies for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, and other emerging platforms, including setting KPIs and guiding content creation.
  • Oversee the strategy, development, and execution of how we leverage content creators and influencers across our channels to drive engagement and audience development. 
  • Work with our integrated & product marketing teams to ensure appropriate content is weaved into our tentpole campaigns and marketing communication.
  • Support (or lead) the development of content first marketing campaigns focused on driving consumption, engagement, and time on site.
  • Be a vocal leader to ensure the entire organization has a solid understanding of our audiences, social and content marketing strategies.

Skills & Experience 

  • 10+ years experience working at a publisher or multi-channel editorial entity with a strong understanding of audience development, distribution channels, and the digital landscape.
  • Strategically minded adept at creating customer journeys and leveraging data and trends to fuel conversation and engagement.
  • Deep interest in culture and a pulse on worldwide events with the ability to capitalize on trends. 
  • An expert in the space to drive strategic decision making, educate leadership, communicate changes, and level-set expectations for stakeholders. 
  • Savvy and well-versed in all distribution platforms with a deep understanding of how to build and shape a content strategy based on data & insights.
  • Successful track record in growing and optimizing platforms for increased revenue, views, subscribers, and audience.
  • Strong communication skills, including ability to translate analytics and patterns on social into insights and recommendations for editors.
  • Knowledge of travel landscape and key competitors in travel space a plus.
  • Ability to distill data and insights into actionable experiments.
  • Management experience, especially training/managing younger managers.

The salary range for this role is $185,000 to $230,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. An employee’s pay position within the wage range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. This compensation range may also be modified in the future
