About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager, Apple Infrastructure to lead the development and maintenance of the shared systems, tools, and pipelines that power our iOS, tvOS, and visionOS applications. This role is pivotal in driving the technical vision, roadmap, and operational excellence of our Apple platform infrastructure. You will lead an accomplished group of engineers focused on scalability, reliability, performance, and developer efficiency — enabling our feature teams to deliver best-in-class experiences to millions of users.

As the Engineering Manager, Apple Infrastructure, you will mentor, inspire, and grow the team while ensuring we deliver robust, high-quality infrastructure that supports business goals and technical standards. You will have ownership over platform-wide systems, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring and alerting solutions, and developer tooling. You will be a key contributor to strategic technical decisions and will partner closely with engineering leadership to shape the future of our Apple ecosystem.

This is a hybrid position and we are considering applicants for the location(s) of Los Angeles, CA or San Francisco, CA. You will report to the Director of Engineering, Apple.

Responsibilities
  • Run the day-to-day operations of the infrastructure engineering team and manage agile ceremonies such as grooming, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers to adopt and maintain best practices, platform architecture standards, and scalable infrastructure solutions, fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Define and execute the roadmap for shared Apple platform infrastructure, ensuring alignment with business objectives and the needs of dependent feature teams.
  • Work closely with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to gather requirements, prioritize improvements, and communicate project progress and operational updates.
  • Manage project timelines, resource allocation, and budgeting to ensure delivery of infrastructure initiatives.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and performance monitoring solutions to optimize development velocity and product stability.
  • Drive operational excellence by managing system incidents, performing root cause analyses, and implementing long-term preventative measures.
  • Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and lead performance optimization efforts across the Apple platform stack.
  • Conduct regular one-to-one meetings with team members to provide feedback, support career development, and maintain high team morale and productivity.
  • Lead hiring and onboarding efforts to attract top infrastructure talent and expand the team's capabilities.
Key Qualifications
  • Proven experience managing infrastructure or platform engineering teams, preferably in the Apple ecosystem (iOS, tvOS, visionOS).
  • Strong technical background in CI/CD tooling (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Bitrise, CircleCI) and automation best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with build systems, dependency management, and artifact distribution for Apple platforms (e.g., Xcode Cloud, Fastlane, xcframeworks).
  • Proficiency with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Datadog, New Relic, Grafana, Prometheus) and alerting best practices.
  • Deep understanding of performance profiling, crash reporting, and optimization strategies for Apple applications.
  • Strong incident management skills, including root cause analysis and postmortem facilitation.
  • A track record of mentoring and developing engineering talent.
  • Exceptional communication skills for collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with modern agile practices and a track record of delivering infrastructure initiatives on time and within budget.
