DESCRIPTION

As an Engineering Manager in our Finance Primitives organization, you'll play a critical role in owning and evolving the systems that keep the financial engine of the company running. This team sits at the heart of our infrastructure—responsible for bank integrations, payment connectivity, and a suite of business-critical services that ensure money moves reliably and securely across our platform.

You'll lead a team of talented engineers focused on delivering robust, scalable, and compliant financial infrastructure. From integrating with global banking partners to powering real-time transaction flows, your work will directly impact the operational stability and financial accuracy of the entire business.

This is a high-impact role ideal for someone who thrives in complex domains, values precision, and is motivated by the challenge of building systems that underpin the company’s trust and reliability.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Lead and grow a team of engineers responsible for building and maintaining bank integrations, payment pipelines, and financial APIs.
  • Own the architecture and operational excellence of business-critical systems with high reliability and availability requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in Product, Finance, and Compliance to prioritize features, support audits, and ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Drive strategic decisions around vendor integrations, financial data flows, and secure handling of sensitive data.
  • Champion engineering best practices including testing, monitoring, alerting, and documentation.
  • Act as an escalation point for production incidents related to your team’s domain.
  • Participate in planning, roadmap development, and team resourcing to support both short-term deliverables and long-term scalability.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • 6+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 2+ years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Proven experience working on financial integrations, payment systems, or banking APIs (e.g., SWIFT, SEPA, Open Banking, Plaid, etc.).
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems, secure data processing, and transactional consistency.
  • Strong background in backend development using languages such as Java, Go, Python, or similar.
  • Experience managing production systems with high availability and performance requirements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Comfortable working in regulated or compliance-heavy environments (e.g., SOC2, PCI, GDPR).
