Engineering Manager, Infrastructure (f/m/d)
The Role:
As an Engineering Manager for the Infrastructure and QA Team, you will lead a team focused on building and maintaining our foundational infrastructure, ensuring high-quality engineering practices across our products. Your team will create scalable infrastructure solutions, automate cloud operations, and establish quality standards, guidelines, and processes that ensure reliability and efficiency throughout Zenjob's technology stack. Quality Assurance goes beyond testing and automation; it includes defining guidelines and processes to guarantee we deliver high-quality solutions, following principles like 'you build it, you run it'. In this role, you will act as a consultant to product engineering teams, providing the foundational tools and support needed for their platform layers, and guiding the underlying infrastructure team to serve as internal experts. This collaborative approach will empower product teams to leverage platform capabilities effectively, optimizing DevOps processes while maintaining a quality-first approach.

What You’ll Do
1. Technical Leadership
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to the Infrastructure and QA team, ensuring best practices for architecture, automation, and quality are followed. This includes:
- Making trade-offs between technical investment and tooling to maximize impact and efficiency.
- Focusing on 'measuring what matters' to drive data-informed decision-making and improve processes.
- Prioritizing testing efforts on the most critical components to ensure high value without unnecessary overhead.
- Establishing clear guidelines and processes for infrastructure management and quality, ensuring consistency across the organization.
- Encouraging team members to actively contribute to technical discussions and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with engineering teams in a consultancy role to provide foundational infrastructure tools, support efficient cloud usage, and promote a 'Quality as Code' approach. This includes establishing guidelines and processes to ensure high-quality solutions, aligned with principles such as 'you build it, you run it'.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and trends, assessing their potential value for our infrastructure and testing needs.
2. Team Management
- Lead and mentor a diverse team of infrastructure and QA engineers, providing regular feedback, coaching, and support for professional growth.
- Foster an inclusive and collaborative team culture that values experimentation, continuous learning, and cross-functional support.
- Align team objectives with the organization’s strategic priorities and promote high performance and accountability.
3. Project and Quality Management
- Manage infrastructure and quality initiatives, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet high standards.
- Work with stakeholders across the organization to understand their infrastructure and testing needs, ensuring they are addressed effectively.
- Drive initiatives to improve infrastructure reliability, scalability, and efficiency while implementing testing best practices and automating quality processes.
4. Continuous Improvement
- Champion opportunities for process and technology enhancements, implementing changes to boost automation, efficiency, and stability.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging the team to experiment, learn, and iterate to enhance the quality of our infrastructure and products.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) for both infrastructure and quality and use them to guide ongoing improvement efforts.
5. Platform Guidance and Support
- Act as a key advocate for platform capabilities within the organization, supporting teams to effectively utilize platform tools and infrastructure.
- Provide support and guidance to the underlying infrastructure team to help them serve as experts, empowering product engineering teams.
- Collaborate closely with platform and product teams to ensure alignment, efficiency, and consistency in the use of infrastructure capabilities.
Who You Are
- You value agile team management, including regular 1:1s and coaching to help engineers grow.
- You have experience with infrastructure automation, CI/CD, and "infrastructure as code" tools like Terraform.
- You have experience working with cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure (AWS preferred).
- You have strong communication skills and empathy, and you enjoy growing teams while building systems that drive high-quality engineering outcomes.
- You have a passion for mentoring engineers and ensuring that quality standards are built into every stage of the engineering process.
Requirements
- Experience leading software engineering or infrastructure teams in a fast-paced, delivery-focused environment.
- Demonstrated people management skills, including hiring, performance management, and team development.
- Strong technical background in infrastructure automation, cloud technologies, and quality engineering practices.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and automation tools such as AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
- Familiarity with quality assurance best practices, including automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring.
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
