In the role of Finance Manager on the Accounting team, you will be responsible for managing accounting operations and ensuring the books and records of all of Jump’s trading entities globally are complete and accurate. You will be responsible for comprehending, tracking, reconciling, and analyzing trading financial data and translating it into accounting entries and financial statements. You will ensure that Jump’s accounting processes enable the team to best support existing and new business, increasing efficiencies and driving process improvements.

This role will also support production and timely and accurate submission of our monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting for all our regulated U.S. trading entities. You will collaborate closely with other members of accounting, treasury, tax, risk, compliance, clearing, and other back-office support functions to ensure compliance for accurate reporting. You will be faced with new challenges that will continuously leave you looking for ways to help and support the team and firm.

We are seeking a highly organized, strong communicator, with an analytical mind, intellectual curiosity, and a passion for the trading industry and financial markets. This role requires strong accounting technical skills as well as a background in regulatory reporting and compliance in the industry. This role is based out of our Chicago office with an expectation to work in the office a portion of each week.

 

What You'll Do:

  • Maintain primary responsibility for the execution of the monthly accounting close for Jump’s global trading entities, including reconciliations of trading data and balances, variance analyses, and posting journal entries to the accounting GL to record transactions performed by you or team members and directs.
  • Ensure trading related balances are accurately and completely stated on the balance sheet.
  • Review data for anomalies while ensuring proper explanation and documentation.
  • Prepare and review all current U.S. regulatory returns and other submissions, as required and applicable.
  • Maintain primary coordination for external regulatory audits and examinations.
  • Monitor and ensure timely identification and compliance with evolving regulatory guidance, provide interpretation and assessment of impact, and prepare documentation.
  • Assess, develop, and maintain proper policy and procedure documentation in relation to regulatory reporting function.
  • Proactively identify needs for process enhancements and propose or build solutions to automate processes specific to your areas of responsibility.
  • Completion of ad hoc projects as assigned by managers and stakeholders within and outside of the Finance department.
  • Ensure timely, accurate completion of related special project/analysis work and other ad hoc tasks as requested of others within the Department.
  • Other duties as assigned or needed 

 

Skills You'll Need:

  • At least five years of relevant work experience in regulatory accounting or audit, preferably in the financial markets space
  • Proven ability to research and interpret regulation and develop and implement processes for compliance
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative to define and resolve problems
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and excellent documentation skills
  • Collaborative and able to build and sustain relationships with colleagues
  • Strong communication skills
  • Previous management experience
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible, conscientious, and easily adaptable to constant change
  • Professional demeanor and ability to use discretion when working with confidential material
  • Highly proficient in MS Excel, including experience with lookup functions and pivot tables
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field
  • Series 27 Certification
  • CPA, or international equivalent
  • Experience with NetSuite or similar accounting systems
  • Predictable and reliable availability
