Your mission

At Planet A Foods, we want to revolutionize the food industry to protect the planet we love. We believe that creating better food ingredients, done by perfecting centuries-old fermentation technology, leads to healthier alternatives for us all and can save up to 500 Mt of CO2 per year.

Our first product? Yummy chocolate! We created the world’s first 100% cocoa-free chocolate called Nocoa. Our Nocoa tastes amazing with a solid snap and smooth melt as well as roasty notes and a subtle sweetness. In addition it is completely natural, gluten-free, vegan and made with only seven ingredients. Nocoa doesn’t only deliver on taste and naturalness. It is also kind to the planet with a breathtaking low carbon and water footprint, plus a complete mitigation of deforestation and child slavery!

On our journey to protect our Planet A, we are looking for an Analytical Chemist Intern (Mandatory Internship). In this role, you will be part of the Nocoa Research & Development Team. You will support us in the further development of our 100% cocoa-free Nocoa regarding taste, aroma and texture. Therefore, you will be integral in analyzing product samples and prototypes in our lab. Our laboratory has a GC-MS, GC-FID, Rheometer and a Texture Analyser, that will be yours to operate. Furthermore you can take part in creating samples in our technical chocolate lab.

If you wish to, you can generate data during your internship that will be used in a master thesis that you write after your time at Planet A Foods.

Your tasks at Planet A Foods:

  • Perform food science related measurements in the laboratory with eg. GC-MS, GC-FID, Texture Analyzer, Rheometer etc.

  • Optimize and/or develop new analytical methods

  • Assist the team in flavor optimization and perform experiments along our Nocoa process

Your profile

  • You are enrolled in chemistry, food science, food chemistry, biochemistry, nutrition or similar courses (B.Sc. or M.Sc.) and must complete a mandatory internship.

  • You are a positive person with a passion for sustainable food and working hand in hand with other ambitious people on something meaningful.

  • You have experience working in a laboratory

  • You have experience working with analytical instruments (GC or LC would be preferred)

  • You are self-disciplined, hands-on, proactive and ready to take ownership.

  • You are in Munich or willing to relocate to Munich.

Optional:

  • You have experience in data analysis

(Please note we are currently only looking for applicants that already have a work visa/permission to work in Germany, or of course, EU citizenship and we only hire interns that need to make a mandatory internship for university)
