Wise is growing in Austin and we’re looking for Due Diligence Agents to join our expanding Consumer and Business Due Diligence teams!

This role is a unique opportunity to grow as a specialist on the front-line of Anti-Money Laundering and fraud prevention, have an impact on Wise’s mission, and help millions more people save money by using Wise! 🚀

This is a Hybrid position located in Austin, Texas, and NOT fully remote.

Your mission:

The Due Diligence mission is to verify that customers and business are who they say they are, and that they’re not using Wise products for fraudulent purposes. Our Due Diligence Agents engage in research and analysis of the information provided, information already within Wise, and external tools, along with your own experience, to determine if the customer is acting in good faith while using Wise. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Perform Due Diligence on existing, new, and/or potential customers based on risk mitigation controls and certain trigger events
  • Identifying customer records that require further review and taking action to obtain and follow-up on the information and/or documentation requested
  • Ensure that information and documentation provided by customers, from external data sources, and from your own reviews (e.g. websites and company registries) meet our requirements for verification
  • Perform searches utilizing Internet sources and/or third-party vendors to obtain information on prospects and new/existing customers
  • Communicate with customers when required to handle escalated or complicated cases with strong customer empathy as well as clear communication of decisions and policies
  • Provide guidance and responses to daily inquiries from peers, front-line support, and management regarding due diligence matters and case analysis, when appropriate
  • Maintain basic understanding of AML/CFT Regulations and how these impact the business, as well as Wise products and Services
  • Assess Risk level of referred profiles that may or may not meet the Risk criteria expected from escalations, and escalate any suspicions and/or concerns to the AML and Fraud teams for review
  • When warranted, be capable of drafting SAR narratives to report activity deemed unusual
  • Have a deep understanding of different business models, customer types, country risks, and regulatory requirements across multiple geographies
  • Support Wise in internal and external audits and regulatory due diligence process related queries reviews
A bit about you:
  • Experience: You’re someone with previous experience in customer verification (KYC), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), document verification, or compliance in a financial setting
  • Communication: You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, which includes excellent verbal and written English skills 
  • Autonomous: You’re punctual, proactive, and willing to get things done, working autonomously within your role scope and responsibility
  • Adaptable: You are able to handle more complex activities with moderate variation, and you can deal with less straightforward questions, coordinate with as many sources of information as necessary within and outside the business to support solutions - 
  • Organization: You have excellent attention to detail, analytical abilities, and ability to adhere to strict deadlines - You’re also capable of identifying gaps in policies and processes and providing detailed feedback
  • Growth oriented: You understand that an open feedback culture is there to help you grow. You challenge ideas, not people. You can also work in a diverse work environment which requires collaboration, partnership, and transparency
  • Flexible: You have some flexibility with scheduling and willing to work some evening shifts
  • Additionally: You must already be legally authorized to work in the US, we cannot provide Visa sponsorship for this role
