The mission of the Airbnb Global Safety and Security (GSS) team, as a component of Fraud and Safety Operations, is to foster a safe, secure, and healthy workplace for our employee community and peace of mind for Airbnb’s global community. Airbnb GSS programs include Global Threat Assessment; Open Source Investigations; Strategic Research & Analysis; Insider Threat Prevention; Workplace Violence Prevention Program; Trust Global Partnerships; Organized Criminal Syndicate Investigations; and, Law Enforcement Operations. 

The Difference You Will Make:

The Global Law Enforcement Engagement Manager,  will lead the strategic engagement roadmap for the Global Law Enforcement Engagement program within Law Enforcement Operations (LE Ops). The global LE Ops team is responsible for liaising with law enforcement entities on significant investigations, processing law enforcement data disclosure requests, and building trusted relationships with global law enforcement entities. The Global Law Enforcement Engagement Manager will report directly to the Senior Manager, Global Law Enforcement Operations & Organized Criminal Syndicate Investigations. 

A Typical Day: 

The Global Law Enforcement Engagement Manager,  will lead the strategic engagement roadmap for the Global Law Enforcement Engagement program within Law Enforcement Operations (LE Ops). The global LE Ops team is responsible for liaising with law enforcement entities on significant investigations, processing law enforcement data disclosure requests, and building trusted relationships with global law enforcement entities. The Global Law Enforcement Engagement Manager will report directly to the Senior Manager, Global Law Enforcement Operations & Organized Criminal Syndicate Investigations. 

We are seeking a passionate leader with a strong background as an executive in law enforcement or a senior security professional who can develop strategic initiatives to align Fraud & Safety Operations’ priorities and effective global law enforcement engagements in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment in which Life Safety is the top priority. The successful candidate is a strategic problem solver and liaison operations specialist with a creative growth mentality who can work collaboratively across senior functional leadership with cross-functional teams. 

  • Initiate and lead the development and management of external partnerships and engagement opportunities with law enforcement and security agencies  Globally (AMER, EMEA, and APAC) to provide expertise and insights that inform our Global Safety & Security/Fraud & Safety Operations’ priorities to align strategy with broader company objectives.
  • Develop strategy, recruit, and lead a right-sized team of Regional Law Enforcement Engagement Leads supporting the initiatives, priorities and roadmaps for the regional LE Operations teams (EMEA, APAC and AMER) driving strategic safety efforts for the Airbnb community at scale.
  • Develop and lead regional Regional Law Enforcement Engagement Leads around the world to develop and maintain effective working relationships with law enforcement and government authorities globally by building partnerships and coalitions through liaison with international law enforcement organizations (e.g., Interpol, Europol, MCCA, IACP, FBI, HSI, etc.)
  • Develop programs, events, and presentations to educate key agencies and multinational partners for the deepening of cooperation and the strengthening of trust and safety at Airbnb.
  • Collaborate effectively  with internal teams and communicate with law enforcement during high-risk law enforcement operations globally.
  • Identify market segments and external partnership opportunities for law enforcement liaison to improve relationships between Airbnb and its global external community.
  • Investigate and overcome barriers to successful, collaborative law enforcement operations and data exchange.
  • Work closely with the legal and public policy teams on engagement with law enforcement authorities, regulators and legislators on online safety, security and law enforcement issues.
  • Develop, track, and communicate data, metrics, and measures to manage progress against objectives and key results for evaluating the effectiveness of law enforcement operations programs.
  • Manage logistics of projects from start to finish, including identifying and scoping opportunities, aligning with different teams and functions, advancing contractual agreements, coordinating rollouts and managing budgets.
  • Responsible for planning, staffing, budgeting, and managing expense priorities for Airbnb’s Global Law Enforcement Engagement program.

Your Expertise:

  • 12+ years of experience as a senior leader in global law enforcement or government relations.
  • Depth and breadth of experience with threat response, crisis management, and complex investigations; including human trafficking, drug trafficking, terrorism, national security, threats of violence, and mass casualty events.
  • Experience working collaboratively with law enforcement managing/addressing legal process, emergency disclosure requests, MLATs, and emergencies-in-progress from a range of varied legal systems. 
  • Experience working collaboratively on sensitive and/or national security programs with law enforcement and security services.
  • Demonstrated maintenance of a highly developed network of resources, cultivated through years of building relationships in global law enforcement and security services, ensuring liaison effectiveness in varied regions with complex geopolitical, cultural, and business environments.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully building relationships and operating in adverse environments and/or while engaging with under-developed law enforcement agencies.
  • Strong track record of organizing and executing events, facilitating consensus building, developing programs and engagements with both internal and external audiences.
  • Exceptional project management skills from idea conceptualization to implementation. Ability to simultaneously manage multiple complex projects  with competing interests.
  • Experience working on projects and policies that have global impact by utilizing quantitative and qualitative data to support recommendations
  • A proven track record of working collaboratively with subject matter experts on cross-functional teams, balancing disparate priorities, and rapid problem solving in high-stress situations.
  • Experienced manager effective at identifying talent and building effective teams through trusted relationships and empowering high-performance across an organization covering a wide range of geographies, languages, time zones, etc.
  • An executive presence with outstanding communication skills including written, verbal and presentation skills with the ability to create executive communications and presentations.
  • Sound judgment & ability to work independently with minimal supervisory oversight.Willingness to travel frequently.
  • Willingness and flexibility to support LE Ops in 24/7 communications with law enforcement.

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. How We'll Take Care of You:

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.  

Pay Range$150,000—$185,000 USD
