HARDWARE RELIABILITY SPECIALIST (STARLINK)

SpaceX is leveraging its experience in building rockets and spacecraft to deploy Starlink, the world’s most advanced broadband internet system. Starlink is the world’s largest satellite constellation and is providing fast, reliable internet to 2M+ users worldwide.

As we continue to upgrade and expand the constellation, we are looking for talented Hardware Reliability Specialists who will be responsible for being the front-line support of Satellite quality and overall product reliability in the production environment and on orbit. Primarily, you will be monitoring the material review board (MRB) landscape across the factory to pinpoint the highest priority defects that require extreme focus and assist in the root cause and corrective action implementation. You will build an extensive network relationship with design engineers, production, supply chain, and the quality team. This position also includes running production containments, implementing process improvements, and maintaining a high standard of quality across production build cells.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute production non-conformance management processes, including MRB, vendor defects, quality audits, and production containments.
  • Analyze production defect data and hold quality build reviews to drive root cause and corrective action.
  • Build relationships with cross-functional groups to identify, reduce, and ultimately eliminate impacts from production defects.
  • Assist production in developing process improvements and provide training to production technicians to ensure Starlink standards are being held.
  • Monitor production First Pass Yield (FPY) and true yield to maintain a stable production environment capable meeting the required Satellite production rate, reliability and cost.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • 2+ years of experience in an engineering, reliability, manufacturing or quality field.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated capability to think creatively and solve complex problems with little to no supervision on schedule as an individual or as a member of an integrated team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline.
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and step into chaotic situations, using technical knowledge and quality background to understand the current state and most optimal path forward.
  • Capable of concisely communicating status and needed action, often urgently, to your supervisor and other management levels
  • Ability to acquire new technical knowledge, particularly around how Satellite subsystems operate and function.
  • Good written, oral, presentation skills, and documentation.
  • Experience reading engineering drawings, including electrical PCBA schematics and mechanical tolerance stacking.
  • Experience with hands on defect management and investigation of a high paced production environment.
  • Experience with MS Excel, SQL, Python, process flow mapping, warehouse management systems, process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA).

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to work all shifts (Day/Night Shift).
  • Must be able to travel - up to 15% work week travel may be required.
  • Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed to meet major milestones.
  • This position is based in Redmond, WA and requires being onsite - remote work not considered.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:       

Level 1: $32.00 - $40.00/hour    

Level 2: $36.00 - $45.00/hour    

Level 3: $40.00 - $50.00/hour                

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
