Our Opportunity 

Chewy is looking for a Head of Benefits to join our Total Rewards Team based in Plantation, Florida. Reporting to the Head of Total Rewards, the Head of Benefits is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the strategy, functional design, and administration for Chewy’s health and welfare, retirement, wellbeing, relocation, leave and accommodations, and time away plans and programs. The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert in benefits design, principles, and practices, and can collaborate across HR, Finance, Legal, and executive leadership, and in partnership with external vendors, to ensure plans are fit for purpose, competitive, compliant, and resonate with team members. This leader provides direction, coaching, and development to a team of benefits professionals to ensure the successful design and delivery of all cyclical processes, vendor contracts, and new policies and programs for the US and Canada. 

What you'll do 

  • Creates forward looking strategy for all domestic and international benefits plans and programs for all Chewy entities. 
  • Accountability and responsibility for developing and implementing plan design changes and new plans and programs; includes leading the processes for benchmarking, RFI/RFP, contracting, change management, system implementation, and communications to ensure successful rollout, understanding, and participation. 
  • Regularly assesses benefits offerings to balance market competitiveness with team member and company impact.  
  • Serves as subject matter expert and advisor to senior leadership on all benefits matters. 
  • Scales the administration of all benefits plans and programs to ensure efficient operations while keeping team member experience front and center. 
  • Closely monitors team member sentiment to ensure resonance and applicability of all plans and programs. 
  • Partners with external advisors and legal counsel to ensure that all benefits are competitive and compliant with all federal and local government regulations.  
  • Acts as a subject matter expert to the 401(k) Investment Committee ensuring that adequate processes and controls are in place to meet the Company’s fiduciary responsibility. 

What you'll need 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in HR or related discipline. 
  • Master’s degree and/or benefits certification a plus. 
  • 20+ years of progressive experience in US and international Benefits, with 10+ years in a leadership role, focused on Benefits plan design and administration, and 5+ years leading Benefits for a large organization. Experience in E-commerce or pet services industry a plus. 
  • Demonstrated strong communication and influencing skills evidenced through experience partnering with senior level executives across HR, Finance, Legal, and the C-suite to implement new plans and/or changes to existing plans. 
  • Ability to be hands-on and work effectively in a dynamic matrixed organization. 
  • Strong coaching, mentoring and leadership skills.  
  • Position may require travel.
