We are looking for an iOS Engineer (all genders) for our Self Study Engineering Team (2-year contract)! 

In your role as an iOS Engineer, your mission will be to change the future of language learning.You will work closely with the product & engineering managers, product & learner experience designers, subject matter experts, and cross-platform engineers to make this mission a reality for Babbel learners.

You will:

• Be part of all product development phases: talking part in discovery, proposing solutions, implementing, reviewing, testing and deploying learning experiences
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other cross-functional teams to define and implement features that enhance the language learning experiences related to the review and practice of language vocabulary and real-life conversations  
• Ensure the delivery of clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
• Maintain and proactively improve the overall technology stack and infrastructure of the iOS app(s)
• Create and maintain technical documentation for core features on our iOS application, ensuring knowledge transfer and codebase understanding.
• Independently focus on continuous learning and improvement while actively sharing knowledge with colleagues

You have:

• 3+ years of experience building scalable iOS applications using Swift
• Good understanding of iOS design patterns, frameworks, and libraries. Especially SwiftUI, UIKit and related frameworks
• An eye for good architectural decisions based on feature requirements
• Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery
• Experience with Functional Reactive Programming, preferably using RxSwift
• A solid understanding of the Apple ecosystem, specifically iOS and the Human Interface Guidelines
• An open mindset for positive criticism
• A good way of communicating technical problems and solutions in a concise manner
• A proactive attitude towards proposing technical improvements
• Testing and maintainability in mind when building and refactoring features
• Experience in analyzing, developing, supporting, and monitoring system, health, and performance metrics
• Knowledge how to balance and prioritize technical debt and delivery speed
• Enjoyment in UX and working with design teams in a lean environment
• Fluency in written and spoken English
