Lead Construction Technician

LEAD CONSTRUCTION TECHNICIAN
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and direct a team on construction technicians and carpenters
- Schedule daily work and prioritize assignments
- Ensure the safety of the team and assets
- Coordinate with project managers and engineers in the planning of projects
- Ensure quality workmanship and customer satisfaction
- Communicate effectively on the status of projects
- Meet with contractors for informal bids
- Define hazards, overall design and structure quality
- Advise in the selection of building materials; requisitions building materials and supplies
- Assist, instruct, and mentor apprentice carpenters and construction technicians
- Coordinate and manage multi-trade projects working with skilled partners and vendors while communicating with project managers and management on project timelines
- Provides feedback to leadership and engineering about construction techniques and standards
- Troubleshoots issues in the field and offers solutions to project managers and management
- Framing of fences, stairs, decks, walls, floors, sheds, concrete forms, and other structures
- Constructing and supporting various MEP projects
- Use of equipment to perform earthwork, demo, clearing and cleaning
- Use of hand and measurement tools and manual equipment (saws, squares, shovels, etc.)
- Support of various landscaping projects
- Layout, installation, repair, finishing, maintaining various structures, fixtures and buildings
- Basic concrete work and repair on sidewalks, curbs, driveways, and patios
- Operate forklifts, boom lifts, and other heavy equipment
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 10+ years of residential/commercial/civil construction experience
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 3+ years of experience as a foreman, superintendent, or other leadership role
- Experience in many construction environments
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC/R), concrete, framing, and industrial gas trade systems
- Knowledge of basic math, engineering, and construction principles and methods
- Ability to read, understand and follow detailed schematics, drawings/blueprints, and instructions
- Ability to offer feedback to the design team to improve cost, quality, and aesthetics
- Written and verbal communication skills, use of MS Outlook and Teams
- Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a fast-paced construction environment
- Self-motivated and works well with others
- Safety training and use of fork lifts, scissor lifts, and heavy equipment operation
- Experience with survey equipment and pulling elevations and coordinates.
- Experience with mechanical systems, carpentry, concrete, welding, earthwork, conduits,
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work hours depend on site priorities and may require extended hours; flexibility required
- Periodic work in extreme outdoor environments: heat, cold, wind, rain
- Estimated working days/hours:
- Monday to Friday from 6 AM – 6 PM
- Weekends as needed
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. unassisted
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to perform regular manual labor
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position
- Must have a valid TX driver’s license
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Pay range:Lead Construction Technician/Level 3: $23.00/hour + $2.00/hour lead differential
Lead Construction Technician /Level 4: $26.00/hour + $2.00/hour lead differential
Lead Construction Technician /Level 5: $29.00 - $33.00/hour + $2.00/hour lead differential
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
