We're seeking a Lead Developer Advocate to join our Developer Relations team, driving enablement for MongoDB's developer community. Candidate Profile
We're looking for a Lead Developer Advocate to spearhead our direct engagement and training initiatives. You thrive when setting developers up for success, having established best practices for training, instructional content, and delivering hands-on sessions. Your recent endeavors include engaging developers at events and meetups, , where you and your team have enabled developers towards discovery and use of your platform.
With at least 5 years in a lead role, preferably in DevRel, Solutions, or in a similar capacity, you have a deep understanding of developer ecosystems. You excel at explaining complex technical concepts in simple terms and have a natural ability to connect and communicate with developers of various skill levels.
Collaboration and empowerment are at the heart of your leadership style. You'll work closely with team members at various levels, overseeing content creation, peer reviews, and knowledge sharing. Your focus is not just on individual success but on elevating the entire team, enabling them to be more productive and successful.
Position Expectations
- Lead a team of Developer Advocates, establishing best practices for developer enablement and advocacy.
- Build on your experience in database technologies and programming languages to provide guidance and strategic direction to the team.
- Collaborate with product and marketing teams to develop effective engagement strategies for customers and the developer community.
- Partner with other marketing teams, providing insights, to help to craft messaging and strategies that align with our community's needs and interests.
- Support the growth of MongoDB user groups, Champions, and influencer programs, in collaboration with the other DevRel teams.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in a leadership role, such as a team lead or technical lead.
- Experience in creating developer-focused hands-on sessions and managing enablement activity such as workshops, labs, and hackathons.
- Proven methods to support continued engagement with developers and collaboration with other teams to report on business impact following enablement activities.
- Strong presentation skills, with ability in conducting live streams, or public speaking at events.
- Willingness to travel (up to 33%) to deliver sessions and/or support your team with enablement activity.

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include: equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, access to transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage, and health benefits offerings. Please note, the base salary range listed below and the benefits in this paragraph are only applicable to U.S.-based candidates.
MongoDB’s base salary range for this role in the U.S. is:$104,000—$204,000 USD
