LEAD PARAMEDIC

The Lead Paramedic will be responsible for scheduling and supervising the daily operations of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Department, ensuring prompt response to emergency medical calls and the provision of quality medical treatment and transportation to appropriate medical facilities. Additionally, this role will participate in human spaceflight recovery operations as needed by the Company, and provide coordination of medical, EMS, and dental utilization of the Starbase medical facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide operational and administrative support, including scheduling, to the Emergency Medical Services Department as directed by the EHS Manager and the Medical Director
  • Daily supervision of EMTs and paramedics
  • Daily supervision and scheduling of the Starbase medical facility
  • Coordinate special event EMS support
  • Maintain and facilitate employee files, qualifications, and competencies
  • Ensure EMS equipment and vehicles are operational
  • Provide EMS and clinic coverage as required or directed
  • Provide support for human spaceflight recovery operations as needed

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of experience with EMS; or 15+ years of experience with EMS in lieu of a degree
  • Registered paramedic
  • Valid driver's license

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in EMS, emergency management, or related field
  • EMS supervisory experience
  • Experience in offshore environments and/or aerospace rescue

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Licensed administrator-of-record
  • Physical capability to perform paramedic duties, including ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in tight spaces
  • Must be willing to travel as needed
  • Willingness to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed
  • Ability to pass Air Force background check for Vandenberg and/or Cape Canaveral
  • Eligibility to obtain TWIC card
  • Position is subject to pre-employment drug and random drug and alcohol testing

  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
