LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT CONTENT SPECIALIST

The Learning & Development Content Specialist will help to develop, implement, and manage high-quality learning experiences for all SpaceX employees (e.g., online and in-person trainings, mentorship programs, discussion forums). This position is unique in that half the time will be spent facilitating in-person trainings and workshops and half of the time will be spent developing content for both in-person and online training and resources. This role will report into the Lead, Learning and Development Content.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Facilitation:

  • Facilitate employee trainings both in-person and virtually
  • Facilitate development workshops for employees and people managers across the organization
  • Travel to our other site locations at least 3 times a year to provide in-person training and facilitation support
  • Assist with in-person training logistics which include booking rooms and scheduling sessions on our LMS systems
  • Partner with IT to troubleshoot any audio issues that may come up during in-person/ virtual sessions

Content Development:

  • Create computer-based training modules
  • Partner with subject matter experts to design and develop engaging content for a variety of audiences and delivery modes (online, classroom, etc.) with clear strategies and tactics to achieve desired learning outcomes
  • Maintain and revise existing learning products, keeping specific audience, learning modality, and other learning considerations in mind while always looking for the most efficient way to express the desired learning objectives
  • Serve as project manager on multiple projects simultaneously with the ability to stay within timelines and budgets and rapidly adjust to changing priorities
  • Work with learning management system team to provide support and when needed help resolve SCORM/AICC problems
  • Assist with development and implementation of new courses and initiatives, focusing in areas such as leadership development, diversity & inclusion, and soft skills training
  • Assist with creating and maintaining how-to guides and online tools for people managers and individual contributors
  • Create strong written copy to promote programs, events, and workshops
  • Oversee the team’s intranet sites on SharePoint to ensure transparency of initiatives, training events, and important communications
  • Partner with Learning and Development team to develop metrics that will evaluate effectiveness of development programs through surveys and feedback

Other responsibilities:

  • Partner with external vendors, manage vendor contracts, and work with purchasing team to ensure accurate and timely payment to vendors, and tracking vendor budget
  • Develop and implement processes to ensure in-person training and online resources are up to date

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 2+ years of experience designing and developing training curriculum

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with design tools commonly used in a learning creation environment (MS PowerPoint, Vyond, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, Articulate Storyline, iSpring Studio & Camtasia Studio)
  • Proficiency with MS Office products
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate in both written and oral formats with all levels of employees
  • Strong facilitation skills
  • Open collaborative style; ability to work both in a team environment and autonomously with minimal supervision or direction
  • Comfortable in environments with shifting priorities
  • Curiosity to understand the strategic priorities for SpaceX how learning and development can best address skill and knowledge gaps in the workforce

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This is not a remote or hybrid position and will require relocation if not already local to the Hawthorne, CA area
  • Position occasionally requires the ability to work extended hours and weekends when needed
  • Traveling up to 20% of the time for facilitation and training purposes

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:

L&D Specialist/Level I: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00/per year

L&D Specialist/Level II: $90,000.00 - $115,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
