The Role
This project is a food waste perception change campaign based out of Pune and Indore. The north star for the project is to reduce food waste in these cities both at the individual level as well as at hotels, restaurants, and cafés/catering (HoReca sector). In the first phase of this work, we are primarily looking at changing perceptions around food waste by raising awareness with households and individual consumers and engaging the HoReCa industry to identify solutions and spotlighting champions. The campaign involves a series of offline and digital events, activations, and partnerships with local stakeholders.The right candidate will have some experience of either working on campaigns perception & behavior change or food waste, and must be well equipped to communicate and engage with the communities as required.
Timeline: 4-5 months [Tentative start: November 1st]
Nature of Employment: Part-time consultant 18-20 hours a week - contract
Roles & Responsibilities:
In terms of responsibilities, the person in this role will support on-ground execution for the project. This may include:
- Campaign Planning
- Support with brainstorming and ideating project campaign plans basis insights from the field, partner conversations and wider ecosystem.
- Support in identifying ways (local or digital) where the campaign can reach target audiences in an effective and efficient manner
- Partnership Management:
- Identifying relevant partners for the campaigns
- Build and maintain relationships with these local partners, including CSOs, Hotels, Restaurants, Cafes, community groups, etc.
- Collaborate with partners to amplify campaign messages and co-organize events.
- Coordinating with project partners for day to day activities and ensuring smooth coordination between them
- Engagement with government stakeholders - This includes securing meetings with decision makers, coordinating with project partners for meetings
- Preparing material/collaterals required for such interactions, presenting the work along with project partners, developing text and translation support as required.
- Community Engagement:
- Engage with the local community to raise awareness about food waste. This will include identifying relevant community groups, individuals who are particularly active in this space and also identifying local channels of communications for community groups
- Utilize local language and cultural knowledge to effectively communicate campaign messages.
- Encourage community participation and feedback to refine campaign strategies.
- Event & Activation Management:
- Plan, organize, and execute campaign events and activations in Indore.
- Coordinate logistics, including venue selection, material preparation, and participant engagement.
- Monitoring & Reporting:
- Maintain and record ongoing activities and share back with the team (photos/videos/other important data that may be useful from a reporting standpoint).
Qualifications/Requirements:
- 3-4 years of experience working with governments, CSOs - especially on IEC projects/campaigns
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Social development, campaigning, or waste management background preferred
- Knowledge of food waste issues or environmental sustainability is highly desirable.
- Logistical, event or community management experience a plus
- Must be located in Indore
- English, Hindi, Marathi Fluency
