Manager, Field Engineering
- Hire, train, and grow a high-performing team of Solutions Architects focused on landing and expanding new Digital Native (DNB) customers.
- Foster a culture of excellence, ownership, adaptability, and continuous learning to deliver on team goals and evolve the Hunting motion.
- Empower your team to identify key use cases, facilitate technical discovery, and drive high-quality proof of concepts (POCs) with an execution-first mindset.
- Maintain consistent operational oversight on the business and work with sales counterparts to drive consistent execution & forecast accuracy
- Maintain a proactive hiring pipeline to meet headcount and capacity needs.
- Drive career development; ramp new hires quickly and promote top talent into larger roles.
- Bring deep technical expertise to lead architectural discussions, guide solution design, and earn trust with both your team and customer engineering leaders.
- Lead your team to deliver on the core mission: land durable Greenfield customers with a strategic lens for long-term growth (2+ years out).
- Ensure your SAs excel in technical qualification, architecture discussions, POCs, and solution design to secure technical wins.
- Support Sales by guiding SA engagement across the full sales cycle, operating with a #oneteam mindset.
- Successfully acquire new customers with Databricks by establishing key executive relationships, delivering outsized value, and accelerating time to value.
- Guide your team to act as trusted advisors to technical stakeholders, especially those making platform decisions.
- Foster strong relationships across Field Engineering, Sales, Product, Engineering, and other internal stakeholders.
- Lead your team in developing creative, scalable solutions that meet immediate needs and lay the foundation for durable, long-term growth.
- Establish and nurture external partnerships with systems integrators (SIs) and independent software vendors (ISVs) to accelerate customer success.
- Technical Depth: 5+ years in the data space (e.g., data warehousing, big data, machine learning, generative AI); strong architecture skills with the ability to guide executive-level customer discussions and drive team results.
- Greenfield and Growth Mindset: Experience driving Greenfield customer acquisition and adoption within a high-growth, consumption-based business model.
- Executive Influence: Proven ability to build trusted advisor relationships with technical executives and senior stakeholders.
- Architectural Influence: Proficiency in reviewing and influencing complex customer architectures to ensure scalability and long-term success.
- Sales Partnership: Demonstrated success collaborating with Sales and cross-functional teams to drive new business and customer outcomes.
- Culture Builder: Ability to foster team morale, cross-functional collaboration, and a high-adaptability, growth-focused culture centered on customer impact.
Pay Range Transparency

The pay range(s) for this role is listed below and represents the expected salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and specific work location. Based on the factors above, Databricks anticipates utilizing the full width of the range. The total compensation package for this position may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed above.
