About the jobThis position is needed to manage the team of engineers across the US who are modernizing the Twilio services across the board. We are building a world-class platform to enable Twilio’s developers to quickly deploy reliable, scalable, and secure products to Twilio customers. As Twilio continues to grow, this team is leading the efforts to develop automated tooling and operational capabilities to enable real-time, low latency services for next-generation communications infrastructure worldwide.
Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
- Empower a team of highly skilled Engineers, motivate them to perform their best, put your best to ensure engineers' have energetic work environment
- Partner with cross functional teams to define common goals and priorities
- Contribute to technical deep dives and right size the engineering investment across initiatives and enhancements
- Define and drive a technical roadmap to meet quarterly KR
- Consult engineers on their career development, assign them tasks tailored to meet their long term goals.
- Identify and drive areas of improvement within our team practices
- Foster an inclusive environment and imports team members to succeed and grow

Required:
- 8+ years of experience in engineering
- 3+ years of hands-on experience leading and managing teams of 5-10 people.
- A passion for automation and DevOps--blending operational excellence with development best practices
- A technical background with a keen interest in understanding the work of their team
- An influential communicator with a history of attracting others towards the best solution to complex problems.
- An inspiring leader who understands the architecture and processes required to build and operate high-available complex and scalable distributed systems in cloud environments.
- Highly collaborative people manager who measures their success based on the success of those around them.
- A track record for ensuring their team is able to consistently execute multidimensional projects in a dynamic technical environment.
- Demonstrates experience leading inclusive teams, mentoring engineers and creates an environment that attracts highly skilled engineers and motivates them to do their best work
- Strong sense of ownership over the success of your products/services
- Ability to work efficiently with multiple global teams
- Ability to think at scale, bringing a focus on continuous delivery methodologies from design through deployment and operations
Desired:
- Previous operational experience in complex distributed systems, including experience towards high-availability and reliability goals
- A Bachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience.
This role will be remote but is not eligible to be hired in San Francisco, CA, Oakland, CA, San Jose, CA, or the surrounding areas.

The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:
- Based in Colorado: $164,000-$205,000.
- This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and corporate bonus plan. All roles are eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state.
