As we embark on the exciting journey towards serial production of our ground-breaking Lilium jet, we have an opportunity for a technically strong leader with proven knowledge of propulsion/powertrain manufacturing to take on a critical role in our team!

Your role and your team:

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you drive the completion of production orders to be on time, adhering to cost and quality requirements. Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager of our Propulsion factory, you are responsible for sustaining shopfloor operations, eliminating disruptions and collaborating cross-functionally to implement changes.

Your day to day:

  • Coordinate activities to achieve a good Design for Manufacturing (DFM) in collaboration with Product, Process Manufacturing, Industrial and Equipment Engineers
  • Create, update, approve design-for-make (DFM) handbooks
  • First-level support for the shopfloor
    • Respond to and support the resolution of ANDONs
    • Provide technical dispositions on non-conformities based on released design data and implement them
    • Implement engineering changes via production order redlining
    • Plan the shop floor work schedule together with the production teams and PP&C
  • Industrialization:
    • Proactively drive the delivery of the Lilium jet on time, on cost, on quality
    • Participate in the shop floor morning stand-up
    • Maintain work plans (MBOM, Routing, work instructions, time data) to reflect latest released design data
    • Capture lessons learned and optimize manufacturing processes through continuous improvement initiatives
    • Drive issue resolution with the fast response team, execute Root Cause Analysis and implement corrective actions
    • Participate in Change Control Boards to justify and drive change requests
    • Participate in industrial risks & opportunities review
  • APQP:
    • Deliver input to APQP Project Leader e.g. test results, process flow diagram, PFMEA, Key Product Characteristics (KPC) and derive required Key Control Characteristics (KCC), MSA, cpk, FAI, PPAP.
    • Build the process flow diagrams as input to the process-FMEA (PFMEA).
    • Ensure the product and process characteristics are correct during the definition of the PFMEA.
    • Drive execution of actions decided in PFMEA.
    • Support creation of Control Plans
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain & Logistics:
    • Update Condition of Supply (COS) document incl. packaging requirements
    • Improve logistics concepts e.g. Kanban vs. Order Controlled
  • Collaborate with Quality Inspection and Conformance Management:
    • Collaborate with Quality Inspectors on inspection operations
    • Collaborate with Certifying Staff on conformity attestation
    • Disposition Non-Conformance-Reports (NCRS) as replace, rework, request for concession or scrap and implement decisions accordingly in production order data
    • Deliver data required to proof product conformity
    • Support or lead execution of measurement system analysis (MSA)
    • Support in gap analysis of process documentation and support audits

 

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor´s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of practical experience in manufacturing engineering
  • Experience in safety-critical industries (e.g., automotive, aviation, healthcare, military, etc) is beneficial
  • Demonstrated experience in working in cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on safety, quality and continuous improvement.
  • English minimum B2
  • Communicator, problem solver, team player
