Your role and your team:At Lilium, we're pioneering the future of aviation with our cutting-edge electric aircraft. As a Mechanical Technician in the Test Operations team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of our innovative technology. Our Laboratory Test & Experimental organization is responsible for component, system, and aircraft level tests, covering propulsion, batteries, structures, and electronics. We are looking for a driven individual to join the Test Services department and support the teams responsible for development and management of test rigs and instrumentation as well as test execution for Lilium's onsite test facilities.
In your role, you support the team in setting up the facility and the various test rigs and maintain their operational readiness. Your focus will be on the Manufacture or adaptation of jigs and fixtures, and assembly of larger test rigs and equipment, their supporting infrastructure and accessories. In your role you work in close collaboration with your qualified colleagues in the team and with colleagues from the Testing division and Test Management.
Your day-to-day:- Consult for production-oriented design, procure material, products and semi-finished components, manufacture or finish mechanical components and structures by processing of various materials (metal, plastic, wood) and assemble and maintain test beds & rigs including the setup and adjustment of equipment and machines.
- Manufacture individual parts, assemblies, assemble test benches and provide support during commissioning and maintenance.
- Instrument test benches and execute simple tests autonomously, for example on tensile & compression test machines.
- Participate in administrative tasks to develop and maintain the functionality of the TO-team and its facilities (e.g. in the creation of processes, templates and technical documentation).
Your profile:
- Provide an educational background as machinist, toolmaker, steelworker, plant mechanic, assembly technology specialist, precision mechanic, production mechanic or industrial mechanic, mechatronics technician, or comparable vocational training in the metal craft sector with at least 3 years of continuous professional experience, excellent, broad technical understanding of mechanical and plant engineering. Ideally, have knowledge and experience with refrigeration or hydraulic systems.
- Working experience in a test environment in the automotive or aerospace industry is a very good addition to your profile.
- Experienced in manufacturing, assembly, modification and repair of mechanical products by manual and machine-supported processing, such as milling, lathing, sawing, drilling, welding, bending, grinding, cutting, screwing, riveting, soldering, bonding.
- High degree of organizational- and networking talent and have an overview of the entire manufacturing process, to manage routinely and confidently.
- Solution-oriented and motivated team player with high decision-making skills, manual dexterity. Convince by your analytical, pragmatically way of thinking and the ability to organise your work yourself and create effective solutions. Take responsibility for your tasks even in situations where the problem and possible solutions cannot be comprehensively described.
- Efficient in the operation of standard IT software such as MS office and show the ability to learn other software tools (e.g. data bases).
- Good English language skills in spoken and written is an absolute must. German language is a plus.
- A drivers license class B (car) is required.
