THE ROLE
Join the Core Platform Business Unit (CPBU) as a Senior Software Engineer (MTS4) to be the technical driver for our next-generation IO tooling that ensures the quality and performance of Pure Storage products. You will own the architecture, development, and evolution of critical block, file, and object storage testing tools, directly impacting product reliability and developer efficiency. This is a highly visible senior individual contributor role with opportunities to mentor and collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
-
Architect and implement core IO tools and infrastructure for block, file, and object storage testing, focusing on high-performance, scalability, and robust diagnostic capabilities.
-
Lead the technical strategy and execution to converge and modernize legacy tools into unified, maintainable solutions, primarily leveraging Go and Python.
-
Drive the improvement of test coverage and developer efficiency by proactively identifying tooling gaps and delivering high-impact solutions for functional, scale, and corruption testing.
-
Provide technical leadership through hands-on development, rigorous design, and code reviews, ensuring solutions align with the long-term vision for IO tooling and storage product quality.
-
Collaborate across CPBU teams (test infrastructure, framework, product) to ensure tools meet evolving requirements and enable rapid triage and diagnosis of complex storage failures.
WHAT YOU BRING
-
Deep expertise in related systems software projects, such as Distributed Systems, Operating Systems internals (e.g., Linux Kernel), Storage Systems, or Hypervisors.
-
Strong proficiency in Go and/or Python, with hands-on experience in performance benchmarking, scalable tool development, and test automation.
-
Demonstrated ability to independently own and drive complex, cross-domain technical projects from concept through production delivery.
-
Proven capability to act as a technical leader and mentor, influencing engineering best practices and providing technical direction within a team.
-
Exceptional communication skills for leading technical discussions, aligning stakeholders across engineering groups, and presenting design proposals.
-
We are primarily an in-office environment and therefore, you will be expected to work from the Bengaluru, India office in compliance with Pure’s policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.
