As a Network Engineer at Lyft, you'll play a pivotal role in our Corporate Engineering team, reporting directly to the Manager of Corporate Engineering. In this role, you'll work closely with cross-functional teams, leveraging your previous experience to anticipate challenges, plan for the unexpected, and proactively mature our network and systems services to meet the evolving needs of the business. Responsibilities:- Design, implement, and maintain scalable and resilient network and systems solutions to support the company's business objectives. We have a cloud first mentality, but still support some on premise technologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess network requirements and develop strategic plans and documents for network and systems infrastructure enhancements.
- Proactively identify and address network performance issues, security vulnerabilities, and emerging technologies to ensure optimal network reliability and security.
- Support network and systems-related projects, including upgrades, migrations, and new deployments, from conception to completion.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including network systems diagrams, configuration details, and standard operating procedures.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior members of the network engineering team.
- Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in networking and security.
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to network and systems-related incidents and outages as needed.
- Collaborate with vendors and service providers to evaluate and implement new technologies and solutions.
- Educate and provide CEIT leadership with requirements to address gaps leading to overall network and systems resiliency.
- Occasional visits to our larger offices located in San Francisco, New York, Seattle and Montreal
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in network and/or systems engineering roles, with a focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-level networks and systems.
- Expertise in routing and switching protocols, including BGP, OSPF, VLANs SD-WAN, and VPN technologies. Experience supporting a Tailscale mesh is a plus!
- Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, Aruba networking equipment and related technologies.
- Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and secure access controls.
- Experience with network monitoring and management tools, such as Logic Monitor and Netbox.
- Experience with on-premise and cloud technologies including AWS and vSphere.
- Experience with Terraform is a plus!
- Experience operating networks and the systems that support them.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.

The expected base pay range for this position in the Toronto area is CAD $122,000-$152,500. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
