The Network Operations Engineer will be responsible for all things related to networking, operations and maintenance for a variety of cloud based and on premise network technology platforms here at Okta. The main focus will be on the devices and platforms that connect our employees and power connectivity at our various offices around the world. You will work closely with other members of the Business Technology team to ensure that the network is reliable, secure, documented, monitored, and has adequate capacity to run the many technologies that power our offices and cloud environments. The person filling this role should always be exploring ways to get the most out of the equipment and applications used on our networks, and keep up on trends and innovations happening in the network space. You will also work to integrate the network wherever possible with other technologies. In a nutshell, you’ll help us make really cool things happen for our employees!

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support scalable networking solutions to address a variety of business challenges in physical and virtual environments
  • Drive consistent improvement by refining tooling, automation, and documentation
  • Manage technical delivery and integrations for our network infrastructure in global offices and cloud environments
  • Assist with research, and implementation of innovative technologies that support our global network and employees
  • Work closely with Business Technology Management to plan projects and implementation of new systems
  • Work closely with the larger Workplace Team, BT Teams, Security, and other stakeholders to resolve and identify recurring incidents
  • Schedule and execute change requests
  • Maintain consistency (software, configuration, security) across the fleet
  • Configure and administer network monitoring tools
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to troubleshoot and remediate network outages. 
  • Work with multiple internal teams to improve IT network security across our infrastructure. 

Minimum REQUIRED Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 2+ years of experience in a role for a combination of network based technology solutions
  • Intermediate to expert understanding of enterprise network design, including office, campus, and global connectivity
  • Experience working with vendors directly such as hardware and software manufacturers
  • Experience with Internet/WAN connectivity partners 
  • Working knowledge or previous experience managing wireless networks
  • Proven knowledge of networking technologies and protocols (WiFi, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPN, ACLs, Routing, Firewall Policies)
  • Working knowledge of network device monitoring, logging, and automation solutions.
  • Experience with enterprise office build and construction process highly desired
  • Experience with Juniper/JUNOS switching/routing preferred
  • Experience with Palo Alto Networks NGFWs preferred
  • A commitment to maintaining a secure, consistent end-user experience across a global enterprise network
  • Strong focus on customer/technology experience - we love our internal customers and hope you will too!
  • Willingness to travel would be beneficial but not required

 

Okta’s IT Network Engineering team is responsible for the global corporate network, building and supporting a high performing, reliable network at scale. As a member of the team you will have a direct impact on network design, deployment, and reliability, enabling our employees to work effectively, from any location, globally. Your role will be to ensure the overall security and integrity of our corporate network is maintained by leveraging network security best-practices, security products and services, and performing security validation.

Below is the annual On Target Compensation (OTE) range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual OTE, which is inclusive of base salary and incentive compensation, will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable) and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual OTE range for this position for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York, and Washington is between:$81,000—$121,000 USD
