Job Description

The Operator Maintainer is responsible for the competent and effective operation of an identified piece of Production machinery in the manufacturing facility, clean using Cleaning in Process (CIP) and Conformance to Process to meet specifications. All tasking must be completed in accordance with Good Manufacturing and Food Safety standards.

 

You will…

  • Ensure hygiene sign-off and area readiness, including prestart and line start-up procedures.
  • Confirm production schedule and availability of raw materials before starting jobs.
  • Allocate or confirm raw materials to production jobs and conduct quality checks to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Log production job information in MFG/Scada systems to ensure Critical Control Points (CCP) and food safety standards are met.
  • Escalate issues to the area supervisor if products or equipment do not meet processing standards; shut down and Lock Out, Tag Out (LOTO) if equipment poses a risk.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting when equipment stops due to alarms and ensure personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn and maintained throughout the shift.
  • Ensure cleaning chemicals are sufficient for scheduled cleaning cycles and maintain a clear working environment in line with food safety and OHS standards.
  • Routinely inspect products to ensure they meet specifications and adhere to traffic management policies and practices.
  • Perform repetitive manual handling within safe weight limits and undertake additional duties as reasonably required.
  • For specific roles: Kettle Farm operators align raw material phasing with cooking manuals, inspect final products, communicate with VFFS operator, and clean to hygiene standards; Meat Needling operators label products, mix solutions, operate machines, and inspect materials; Twin Drum Oven operators ensure seasoning and oil sufficiency, monitor oven settings, and troubleshoot equipment; Fry Line operators inspect products, top up consumables, monitor settings, and ensure raw materials meet specifications.
 

You have…

  • Industrial food processing experience such as dairy, drinks, wet ingredient production
  • 6 months’ experience in Cleaning in Process (CIP) system on production machinery
  • Certificate I, II or III in Food Processing
  • Food Handling Certificate
  • Experience in Food Safety practices, BRC, HACCP and OHSAS 18001
  • Experience using SCADA/SAP programs or similar

Start Date: Immediately available - Can wait a notice period

Duration: Permanent full time role. You must have the right to work full-time in Australia

Roster: Wednesday - Sunday  5:00 - 13:00 or 13:00 - 21:00

Location: Karawatha, Brisbane - hybrid working environment
