Are bi-weekly payrolls, ever improving processes and delicious food some of your favourite things? We hope so! At HelloFresh, the payroll team owns all things payroll related for our Canadian organization. We make sure that everyone is paid accurately and on time, and that all our reporting obligations are as well. As part of the Finance leadership team you will be joining a highly motivated, collaborative team. As the leader of this department, you will report directly to the Head of Finance and have an opportunity to shape the future of the function working closely across the entire business to improve processes, lead system implementations and contribute to the organization's success. 

You have excellent organizational and time-management skills, with a willingness to roll up your sleeves in this fast-paced environment. You have a keen eye for process improvements and are able to quickly assess and mitigate risks while always having a focus on the long-term growth of the company and function. Accuracy, efficiency and collaboration are your highest priorities in all the work that you do and above all, you are an employee-experience focused business partner and you recognize that the experience of every employee matters.

Lettuce share what this role will be responsible for

  • Manage and take full accountability for the end to end activities of the payroll function for over 1,000 full time and hourly employees spread across multiple provinces
  • Administer all tax and regulatory reporting that impact employees including withholding tax filings, working with internal and external tax authorities on the tax implications of various policies such as remote work, employee benefits, etc.
  • Partner across the business with various departments on improving processes that impact payroll such as system implementations, template creation, process efficiency, data consistency, global headcount reporting and forecasting, etc.
  • Own the employee expense reporting and reimbursement process ensuring timely processing and reimbursement 
  • Coach and develop your team to ensure the efficient and reliable functioning of the function
  • All other duties, as assigned

Sound a-peeling? Here's what we're looking for

  • 5+ years of experience administering payroll in a multi-provincial Canadian organization  
  • 2+ years of people management experience 
  • Expertise in all areas in payroll systems and payroll regulations by province (ESA, tax, RRSP, etc.) 
  • Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) certification preferred, Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation required. 
  • Experience leading system implementations, integration and process automation
  • Strong business partnering skills working with the People team

This means a minimum of 2 days in office per week, with most teams in office between 2-3 days a week.

Whether this role is based out of our headquarters or one of our distribution centers, it is possible that you may be exposed to such allergens in this role.
