The Viator Engineering team is distributed across Europe and is responsible for Viator.com. We're looking for a Lead Data Engineer to join our fast-growing team in a hybrid working setup based out of the Lisbon TripAdvisor office.

As a Principal Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining Viator's data infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with data engineering, strong leadership skills, and the ability to workcollaboratively with cross-functional teams. Viator's data stack includes Java, SQL, Kubernetes, Kafka, Spark, Terraform, and runs on AWS. You don't need to have experience with everything listed but you do need to be hungry to learn.

What you will do

  • Design and build Viator's data infrastructure including data pipelines, datawarehouses, and data marts
  • Develop and maintain scalable ETL processes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize data needs
  • Lead and mentor data engineers on the team
  • Ensure data quality and integrity throughout the data pipeline

What you will need

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and coach team members
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms such as AWS or Azure
  • Expertise in ETL processes, data warehousing, and data modeling
  • Proficiency in SQL and at least one object oriented language such Java or C#

Application process

  • 30 minute call with a recruiter to learn more about the role
  • 1 hour technical interview with someone from the Viator Data Engineering team
  • Three one-hour interviews with members of the team, covering technical topics - including some coding - and what you would bring to Viator
