Principal IT Engineer – Apple MacOS

The ChallengeThe Principal IT Systems Engineer at OneTrust will be part of a team that leads our macOS patch management and software deployment initiatives. This role demands a candidate with extensive experience, deep technical expertise, and a proven track record of successfully deploying applications and patches on macOS platforms. As a senior member of our team, you will play a crucial role in executing our strategy for maintaining a secure, high-performance, and up-to-date computing environment with a keen focus on end-user experience.
Your Mission- Take charge of the deployment of desktop software applications, updates, and configurations on macOS platforms, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
- Extensive experience using macOS management tools like Jamf Pro, WorkspaceOne, Kandji, etc.
- Experience using patching tools like Jamf, Automox, Ivanti, Tanium, etc.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to gather intricate software requirements and design deployment solutions that meet enterprise standards for macOS environments.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive deployment documentation, standard operating procedures, and advanced troubleshooting guides specific to macOS environments.
- Implement advanced monitoring processes to track the real-time status of patches and software deployments on macOS systems, providing continuous improvement insights.
- Generate insightful reports on patch compliance, deployment success rates, and proactive identification of potential system vulnerabilities in macOS environments.
- Analyze performance metrics and provide strategic recommendations to optimize macOS patch management and deployment processes.
- Serve as the senior technical expert for complex desktop-related issues related to patching and software deployment on macOS platforms.
- Collaborate seamlessly with the IT support team to resolve intricate end-user problems on macOS systems with efficiency and precision.
- Document and communicate advanced troubleshooting techniques, known issues, and resolutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders for macOS environments.
- Maintain a repository of advanced and up-to-date documentation related to patch management and software deployment processes.
- Proven critical thinker with advanced analytical and decision-making skills.
- Customer service-minded with a strong ability to plan, schedule, and monitor work activities to meet time and quality targets.
- Highly organized and meticulous with excellent process management skills; project and goal oriented.
- Equipped with excellent verbal and written interpersonal skills; with the ability to clearly and effectively articulate ideas and the direction of projects.
- Able to manage and drive multiple simultaneous tasks and projects effectively, quickly adapting to new situations and aligning to business goals.
Your Experience Includes
- 5-7 years of extensive experience with patch management and software deployment in macOS desktop environments.
- In-depth expertise in macOS operating systems and related technologies.
- Proven proficiency with agent-based SaaS hosted patch management tools, and enterprise-level software deployment solutions in macOS environments.
- Strong expertise in scripting languages relevant to macOS environments (e.g., Bash/Zsh).
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on security best practices.
- Experience using JIRA or other ITSM systems like ServiceNow to track tickets and projects.
- Familiarity with ITIL practices including Change and Incident Management.
- Experience in Linux operating systems, Munki, AutoPkg, and version control systems (git) considered a plus.
- Relevant certifications such as Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP), Apple Certified Macintosh Technician (ACMT), or equivalent.
- Experience with endpoint security tools like CrowdStrike, Palo Alto GlobalProtect, etc.
