Product Manager - Storefront
Wayfair believes everyone deserves a home they love, and that furnishing your home should be a source of fun, not anxiety. Our product team plays a crucial role in making this vision a reality for millions of people around the world. Partnering with engineering, UX design, analytics, and business partners across Wayfair, our product team ensures that we’re building technology that solves important customer problems in elegant, scalable, measurable ways. We have a modern tech stack including sophisticated capabilities around AI, data science, multivariate testing, and personalization. We’re a highly collaborative, supportive team that values learning, psychological safety, and intentional career development.
Our consumer-facing Storefront team is responsible for building and growing the native apps and websites customers use to shop our catalog. We leverage technology to make shopping for millions of products feel simple and personal. Customers should feel as comfortable browsing our site from the comfort of their home laptop as they do finalizing purchase decisions from their phones on-the-go.
What You’ll Do
- Use data to understand customer needs and behaviors; map those against business objectives, and transform that knowledge into product enhancements (existing product space and net new features)
- Build client agnostic backends that solve for the needs of customers across all of our platforms: iOS and Android apps, mobile web and desktop applications
- Break down complex problems and back up your recommendations with quantitative and qualitative reasoning
- Given outcomes (e.g., improve a specific KPI), independently own and craft a sequenced set of customer problems and tactics to solve over a ~6 month time horizon (that benefit customers across our US, UK, DE and Canada sites, in addition to Wayfair’s specialty and luxury retail brands)
- Build and maintain roadmaps for your product(s); partner with user experience design and usability, analytics, engineering, technical program managers, other product managers, and stakeholders to translate your vision and roadmap into reality
- Drive measurable results and/or learnings using testing best practices; monitor performance of your focus area
What You’ll Need
- 5-8 years experience working in product management. Experience in ecommerce, and at companies that own a significant tech stack highly valued.
- An ownership mentality. You proactively work to improve your product, its reliability, and plans for its future state. You propose adjustments to priorities as needed, and take responsibility for outcomes, celebrating team wins and surfacing learning moments openly.
- Bias for collaboration. You assume good intent, partner willingly, and ensure the voices of teammates and stakeholders are heard. You communicate openly and proactively, bringing others into your plans. You coordinate and modify as needed.
- Good judgment. You manage risk, know when to pivot, can assess multiple paths forward, and use data to inform and advocate for the right next steps
- Technical acumen. You have experience working with multiple disciplines: engineering, design, analytics and business partners. You can communicate technical complexity, analytical insights, design principles, and business outcomes depending on the stakeholder and needsProven results. You have experience moving the needle on KPIs. You’ve unlocked customer value through strong product discovery and technical delivery. You’ve partnered to get it done, and you have a proven track record of sustaining and maintaining a high bar for your product space, even post launch. Reliability. You right size your commitments, align on delivery timelines, and reliably execute. When something goes wrong (as sometimes happens), you escalate and transparently share the issues at hand. You ask for help, and build upon your learnings over time. Experience building creative yet scalable solutions. You know how to balance short term learnings with long term solutioning. Everything you build is a series of tradeoffs, and your experience to date has helped you fine tune balancing those tradeoffs given a set of constraints.
