QA Engineer III
At Vimeo, we love designing and engineering tools that combine power with ease of use. Our QA Analysts work on professional-grade video tools for creators, contribute to test strategy, run tests, report results across the product, and much more.
We’re a small team that cares about collaboration, encourages curiosity, celebrates technical excellence, and is driven by careful attention to detail and planning for the future. We believe diversity of perspective and experience are key to building great technology and believe that the best way to iterate towards success is by taking care of ourselves, our families, our users, and one another.
Join our passionate team filled with brilliant brains (and sparkling personalities). We’re hiring extraordinary people to help build and grow our product — and to dream up new ideas that will reach millions.
ResponsibilitiesQA is responsible for ensuring all aspects of quality at Vimeo. It’s a tall order for sure: learning how a product works, creating test plans covering obscure use cases, and then putting it all into practice when testing every aspect of product functionality…it’s a lot of ground to cover. But we’ve got an established workflow down that helps make sure we’re setting the team up with the tools they need to proceed and succeed.
Though every project is different, here’s the gist of our QA flow:
- KICKOFF MEETING. Meet the project team; get your questions answered; set expectations; and schedule milestones.
- PREPARING DOCS. Getting started with internal documentation early is hugely important to getting the project into your brain.
- REVIEW DOCS. Review the test cases and test plan with peers.
- HEAVY DUTY TESTING. You’ll test the product/features and give it a few rounds of full pass bug hunting. Beyond just hitting buttons, you’ll be thinking from a higher level: are there usability concerns? Does what we’re doing here actually make sense as the best way to solve the problem? etc.
- CELEBRATING A SUCCESSFUL LAUNCH. What feels better than kicking back after a successful launch? If QA has done their job, the feature release will launch smoothly, the team will have a finished product to show off, and — most importantly —. It doesn’t get much better than that.
* Our QA team also generally gives presentations/demos for cross functional teams.
