QUALITY MANAGER (MACHINING)

This leader will be in charge of managing a team of both quality supervisors and inspectors, while balancing the requirement of improving product quality and utilizing statistical data to optimize inspection requirements. The Quality Manager is responsible for driving improvement in the quality of products that are produced in the machine shops, reporting directly to the production director of the work center.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive improved reliability, quality and risk reduction relative to inspection and quality processes
  • Employ quality engineering statistical methodologies to ensure that safety, reliability, and process capability goals are achieved, maintained, and improved
  • Assure critical parameter process control within the production process, including the establishment of necessary equipment/layout requirements
  • Systematically drive the process control metrics that facilitate progressive optimization of inspection requirements
  • Establish departmental quality metrics. Actively manage the quality problem landscape in order to continuously improve the metrics themselves
  • Liaise with production as appropriate to drive improvements in quality and standardization of quality and production processes

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing, production, military or test environment
  • 5+ years of experience in quality assurance, manufacturing/design engineering, systems integration or launch
  • 1+ years of experience in a leadership role with direct reports 

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Excellent communication to all levels of the organization, team-building skills, and the ability to influence
  • Experience with design for manufacture and product development life cycle
  • Experience with quality tools including root cause and corrective action, QMS and process auditing and statistical analysis of quality metrics
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced/cross-functional environment
  • Must be able to establish priorities, work independently and lead continuous improvement initiatives
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • ASQ certification (CQM, CQE), RAB certified/trained auditor is preferred
  • Experience in a Machine Shop highly valued, especially hands-on
  • Management experience preferred

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to work long hours and weekends as needed
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. unassisted
  • Must be able to travel to other SpaceX sites; up to 10% travel

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:           

Pay range:

Quality Manager, Production: $130,000.00 - $180,000.00/per year   

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
