R&D Senior Director

What You’ll Be Doing:We’re seeking a technology-driven and people-focused R&D Senior Director to lead with innovation, adaptability, and a commitment to excellence in a dynamic, complex payment solutions environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Drive the strategy, vision, and goals of China’s local development project in collaboration with the product team.
Build and lead teams to develop a cutting-edge cross-border payment system, modernize infrastructure to support business growth, and deliver customer-focused solutions.
Oversee the R&D work across various regions in China and potentially other APAC (both directly and indirectly)
Collaborate with other stake holders to establish governance frameworks: Define and at times implement governance structures, processes, and tools to manage and monitor M&A and other activities within APAC.
Be an integral part of the management team, influencing strategy and decision-making.
Mentor and grow managers, teams, and engineers while scaling the organization.
Bridge communication and collaboration between China’s R&D and other global R&D teams.
Foster an agile work environment and ensure adoption of agile methodologies.
Collaborate closely with Product, SRE, DevOps, Data, Operations, and other R&D teams to achieve business goals.
Design robust technical solutions, evaluate architectural options, and define technical direction and quality standards.
Promote a culture of innovation and personal development within the organization.
Take ownership of team growth, recruitment, and development processes.

What We’re Looking For:

A collaborative leader with strong communication and problem-solving skills, able to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making capabilities.
High proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
A passion for managing and growing talent.
Ambition and a strong eagerness to learn and adapt.

Your Experience & Skills:

Education: B.Sc. or higher in Computer Science or a related field is required.
Leadership: 10+ years of managerial experience, leading large development groups or overseeing R&D in small/medium companies.
Development: 5+ years as a full-stack developer.
Domain: Expertise in payments or cross-border payments (advantage)
Technical Expertise: Proficiency with REST APIs, queues, and microservices architecture.
Architectural Knowledge: Strong understanding of OOP, design patterns, and system design.
Engineering Practices: Excellent understanding of SDLC, agile methodologies and engineering excellence.
