To meet this demand, we are looking for a passionate technical expert with experience in the retail industry to join our growing, globally-dispersed Industry Solutions Team. Our objective is to position MongoDB as a strategic component to address industry specific challenges.  Success in this role hinges on leveraging a profound understanding of the retail industry alongside advanced technical proficiency. You will guide customers in recognizing the integral role that MongoDB can play in transitioning towards modern, scalable, cloud-native architectures. This pertains not only to legacy modernization but also to the formulation of new, innovative, cutting-edge solutions. MongoDB Industry Solutions Principals are the most senior members of the team, engaging directly with the C-Suite of clients and partners. In this pivotal role, you will guide organizational leaders in envisioning how MongoDB can strategically address the unique challenges, desires, and requirements of their industry. This multifaceted position involves not only engaging directly with strategic accounts but also contributing to the creation of compelling thought-leadership content, including white papers, blogs, presentations, webinars, and demonstrations, to support successful go-to-market strategies. Your impact will extend beyond individual transactions, shaping the broader narrative of MongoDB's value proposition in the retail industry.  

In the role of Industry Solutions Principal, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, Marketing, and Sales. You will actively contribute to the development and execution of robust go-to-market strategies, strategically enhancing MongoDB's presence in the Retail industry. Through your collaborative efforts, you will play a crucial role in expanding MongoDB's impact and influence within this dynamic sector.

While there is a degree of flexibility in the location of this role, the preference is Mexico City.

As an ideal candidate, you will have:
  • 10+ years of experience in the retail industry or significant experience in related research or adjacent functions
  • Spoken and written fluency in both Spanish and English
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills with the ability to visualize and communicate complex information to all levels of an organization - both internally and externally
  • Proficiency with a range of technical architectures and scalable, highly available distributed systems
  • Ability to discuss a broad range of data-related technologies (e.g. RDBMS, document, key-value, unstructured, noSQL, ISM, XQuery/XML etc)
  • Experience with definition of standards, working in forums, councils and steering committees
  • The ability to travel up to 30% for clients, events, and the occasional team meetup :)
You may also have:
  • An advanced degree with proven background (i.e. Masters, Ph.D, or experience equivalent)
  • Experience working with various database products, ETL tools and software solutions
  • Full-stack software development expertise including database programming and data modeling
  • A MongoDB Certification
  • Additional language skills in other languages (Conversational is appropriate)
What you do at MongoDB:
  • You translate technical concepts and patterns into business benefits for senior management and executives as well as enterprise architects and product owners. This includes the creation of training materials, slide decks, whitepapers, blogs etc
  • You advise the technical teams of MongoDB and clients in designing systems, applications, and infrastructure to help drive some of the world's largest projects leveraging MongoDB in their respective industries
  • You partner with our sales team to help ensure success in accounts ranging from small startups to large enterprises, structure relationships and build templates to engage with various client communities
  • You present MongoDB’s position at various events - either in person or digital
  • You represent MongoDB in international organizations, in workgroups, committees, standardization bodies
  • You are tightly aligned with our product management organization and communicate field requirements, changes you see in industry requirements to the product management leadership
  • You demonstrate resilience and sound judgment in dealing with business challenges and are able to guide more junior colleagues to a successful resolution pattern
  • You proactively seek opportunities to support and mentor pre-sales team members and share best practices 
  • You have situational awareness and react appropriately in group settings

  • Sales techniques and related soft skills - presentations, demonstrations, whiteboarding, discovery, objection handling
  • Exposure to a wide variety of market verticals and a broad spectrum of interesting use cases.
