Working within the dynamic and fast paced environment of OVO’s Energy business line, this role is for a senior engineer who can pick up a complex domain and be able to contribute to development quickly. With transactions processed of £4bn per annum, it is critical that our systems supporting Trading decisions are robust to ensure our Trading activities are effectively handled, monitored and controlled.

What experience you’ll need:- A hands-on engineer ideally with expertise in Scala or another functional language and a strong match with the Energy Tech stack
- Comfortable with Terraform for defining infrastructure
- You have built or contributed to a variety of systems, ideally in different technologies
- Knowledge of the best engineering practices and continuous delivery
- Experience building highly performant applications
- Experience of monitoring and alerting frameworks
- Experience of cloud environments (especially GCP)
- Experience of mentoring more junior engineers
- Comfortable communicating to non-technical stakeholders
- Are genuinely passionate about developing products that will positively impact millions of people and also our environment
- Love working in teams and collaboratively building features that impact customers
- Are motivated by owning products, from inception to continuous improvement
- Believe strongly in test driven development and continuous delivery
- Love building scalable, resilient solutions

We’ll pay you between £64,000 and £92,000, depending on your specific skills and experience. If your expectations are a little different, have a chat with us!

You’ll be eligible for an on-target bonus of 15%. We have one OVO bonus plan that focuses on the collective performance of our people to deliver our Plan Zero goal.
