About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Security Engineer with a strong focus on secure architecture, engineering security, data security, threat modeling, and prevention. As a Staff Security Engineer at Taskrabbit, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the security and integrity of our systems, applications, and data. You will be responsible for designing and implementing robust security solutions, conducting threat modeling exercises, and proactively identifying and mitigating potential security risks.

What You'll Work On:
  • Develop and implement secure architecture and engineering practices across our systems and applications.
  • Conduct thorough threat modeling exercises to identify potential security vulnerabilities and risks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement security controls and measures to protect sensitive data.
  • Perform security assessments and audits to identify and address security gaps and vulnerabilities.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends, technologies, and best practices, and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Conduct security reviews of new technologies, products, and services to ensure compliance with security standards.
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate security into the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and perform secure code reviews.
  • Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Respond to security incidents, conduct investigations, and implement remediation measures.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior security team members.
Your Areas Of Expertise:
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role, with a focus on secure architecture, engineering security, data security, threat modeling, and prevention.
  • Strong knowledge of secure coding practices, encryption algorithms, and secure network protocols.
  • Experience with threat modeling methodologies and tools.
  • Proficiency in conducting security assessments, audits, and penetration testing.
  • Familiarity with industry security standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR).
  • Strong understanding of cloud security principles and best practices (AWS, Azure, etc.).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CEH are preferred but not required
  • Ability to mentor and influence others to advocate for Security best practices
