Position Overview:

StepStone is looking for a detailed-orientated Senior Analyst who will work for the Stepstone Portfolio Analytics team of the private debt business of the firm. This team member will interact and collaborate closely with senior professionals across various teams including business development, research, legal and compliance, among others, to meet our internal and external extensive data analytics requirements.

The person should have a solid understanding of investments and ideally of private markets, strong numerical and technical/analytical skills, and excellent communication skills.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Work alongside with the portfolio analytics team to complete internal and external data related analyses and requests for private markets with focus on private debt
  • Develop and improve existing data analytics tools and execute regular analytics processes
  • Develop and adapt new data analysis reports and tools for various data deliverables
  • Regular analytics tasks include (among others) total expense ratio, investment track records, regulatory data requirements
  • Understand and being able to interpret output as well as giving interpretation to senior team
  • Work on ad hoc requests from internal and external clients
  • Critically evaluate quality and content of data analyses and deliverables and raises issues.
  • Assist and work on other projects and analyses in the portfolio analytics team and the broader portfolio analytics and reporting team

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

  • Possesses a bachelor’s degree (Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business preferred)
  • Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience (ideally within Investment/Private Markets industry)
  • Significant experience with Microsoft Excel and data sets

  • Self‐starter with the ability to identify and investigate issues or inconsistencies with data
  • Highly motivated individual with demonstrated initiative, independence and adaptability
  • Strong cross-functional analytical skills both quantitative and qualitative. Ability to capture and formulate complex issues.
  • Strong work ethic
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Any other proficiency (PowerBI, PowerQuery) as a plus
