The Toast Team Suite business unit is centered around the restaurant employee – offering restaurant-specific products that integrate with Toast Point-of-Sale to help restaurants streamline operations, protect their business and do more for their teams. Team Suite products include, but are not limited to: simplified employee onboarding, scheduling, time tracking, streamlined payroll, and integrated team management.

Toast seeks a seasoned and passionate Regulatory & Compliance Senior Analyst to support its Team Suite business unit. 

The ideal candidate will have multi-state payroll and HR technology compliance experience. In this role, you will collaborate with various teams throughout Toast, including Legal, Engineering, and IT, contributing to the overall success of our Team Suite  products and Compliance function. 

 

About this roll* (Responsibilities) 

  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise to internal stakeholders regarding laws and regulations impacting the Team Suite  products and best practices. Track and communicate to internal stakeholders proposed legislation, official guidance, trends, and industry best practices applicable to Team Suite products and services. 
  • Evaluate and guide the business regarding new and existing product releases and enhancements to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and strategic partner requirements. Provide technical requirements, as needed. Work  alongside a variety of stakeholders across multiple teams throughout the product development lifecycle (i.e. from the initial stages of product development through launch).
  • Conduct research on complex compliance risk-centric issues impacting Team Suite products and services, including proactive identification of regulatory and legislative developments to support stakeholders in strategic business decisions.
  • Support the identification of issues and the remediation of compliance issues by providing guidance and expertise on actions required; oversee the efforts to ensure completion.
  • Work with Compliance Testing teams to define and execute internal testing of Team Suite  systems to comply with regulations, laws, and internal policies.
  • Partner with leadership to address escalated questions or concerns.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the general purpose of the position’s function.

Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in a compliance role responsible for payroll and HR technology.
  • Working knowledge of  laws and regulations impacting the employment life-cycle including hiring, onboarding, payroll, wage and hour, HR technology, employee benefits, and related fields.
  • Excellent communication skills  (both written and verbal) and the ability to translate complex concepts into clear and concise deliverables  and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Proficiency and familiarity with reporting and data analysis and visualization tools, such as spreadsheet tools. 
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects, and manage firm deadlines.
  • A solution-oriented, customer service, and growth mindset.
  • The ability to integrate into cross-functional teams with a cooperative and participatory approach.

Special Sauce* (Nice to Haves)

  • Experience working in a product compliance role for a multi-state third party payroll provider or third party HRMS provider.
  • Any of the following certifications: SHRM-CP (Society of Human Resource Management Certified Professional) or SHRM- SCP (Society of Human Resource Management Senior Certified Professional); PHR (Professional in Human Resources) or SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources); CPP (Certified Payroll Professional); CCEP (Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional)

The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills and experience. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions if eligible), equity, and benefits.Pay Range$88,000—$141,000 USD
