SENIOR DIRECTOR, HEAD OF LEGAL, EMEA

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking an entrepreneurial, quick-thinking, and pragmatic Player/Coach attorney to lead our growing EMEA legal team. This individual will work cross-functionally and lead a team of lawyers responsible for the negotiation, execution, and all requisite legal support for commercial deals with Ivalua’s customers and partners.

WHAT YOU WILL DO WITH US

• Lead, manage and develop Ivalua’s inhouse and external team of lawyers supporting SaaS and professional services contract negotiations with European customers on complex commercial and technology matters
• Work cross-functionally with key executives and stakeholders across the business to provide business-oriented legal support and process efficiency, proactively identify issues, share potential concerns, and craft solutions in supporting the commercialization of our industry-leading products and services
• Structure, draft, negotiate and advise on a variety of technology and commercial agreements, including terms governing Ivalua’s e-procurement solution, implementation services agreements, reseller relationships, professional services and other technology agreements
• Provide legal support for the company’s privacy, data, and security initiatives as they relate to technology and commercial agreements
• Counsel internal clients and manage legal team’s efforts related to contract compliance, governance and dispute resolution matters, serve as a resource to Ivalua’s customer success, customer support, finance and other organizations with respect to ongoing contract and legal matters

YOUR PROFILE

Skills and Experience

If you have the below experience and strengths this role could be for you

• Minimum 7 – 10 years practicing (with at least 5 years in a technology company’s in-house legal department) and/or top law firm focusing on enterprise SaaS and software-related negotiations and transactions in EMEA
• Minimum 3-5 years of management (direct supervisory) experience leading and mentoring small legal teams; exhibits natural leadership qualities in being a team player, yet comfortable making decisions and interacting with customers and colleagues at all levels
• Nimble, action-oriented commercial lawyer who can design and manage effective and scalable commercial processes while employing a collaborative interpersonal style that will build bridges across stakeholders.
• Prior technology/IT industry experience with subject matter expertise in information security, data/privacy, and public sector/regulated industry contracting practices
• Business-oriented and creative problem solver; excellent business judgment and ability to assess legal risk while also thinking strategically and providing sound, practical advice under tight deadlines and when presented novel scenarios
• French/English fully bilingual and German fluency a plus.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication and analytical skills, particularly in French and English language contract negotiating and drafting
• Energized by working in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment
