About the Operational Finance Team

The Operational Finance Team is responsible for a variety of tasks that are instrumental in keeping the business running on a day-to-day basis. There are four teams within the Operational Finance Function each serves a specific purpose to the company: Accounting and Accounts Payable - Accurately records all vendor-related transactions and keeps our vendors paid, Billing Team - provisions all customers access to Mixpanel and ensure proper revenue recognition, Collection Team - records all customer payments and ensures we get paid on time, Payroll - prepares payrolls for all employees worldwide and the Deal Desk Team - reviews all quotes submitted and ensure deals are accurately processed in line with our policies. The teams are primarily split between the Bay Area (California) and Barcelona, with 1 team member in both APAC and the UK.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Finance Associate to support the various functions of the operational finance team. This role will be primarily supporting the billing and accounting teams however will have the opportunity to work with the Deal Desk, Collections, and Payroll teams.

Responsibilities

The Senior Finance Associate will support the Operational Finance team with a variety of tasks and mentor junior team members located in India. Including managing renewals sales orders, overseeing vendor onboarding and indirect tax compliance matters.

More specifically they will perform and review the following:

  • Process and bill renewal sales orders by reviewing contract terms and details to ensure it complies with billing policies and finance procedures
  • Assist in review of customer details to ensure we are compliant with indirect tax matters
  • Process all invoices for all customers for renewals and overages and review all Indian customer invoices to ensure compliance with local taxes
  • Manage tickets (via Zendesk) and emails to ensure timely issue resolution for customer and internal inquiries related to specific billing matters
  • Support the Sr. Collection Analysts in tasks such as completing vendor forms and payment verification for new customers
  • Review, process and manage employee expense reports, and ensure expense report compliance with Mixpanel T&E policy and are accurately uploaded to Netsuite
  • Maintain and approve vendor information, primarily focused on Indian Vendor compliance checklist, including review of vendor invoices for identification of local tax matters
  • Perform daily cash posting for all Non-AR payments using Blackline and Netsuite and support senior accountant with general ledger account reconciliations related to cash, prepaids and other assets
  • Assist in other month-end tasks such as various account reconciliations, headcount update and cost-plus journal entries
  • Assist with preparation of audit related schedules and related support for requested selections
  • Support the Operational Finance Team with ad hoc projects and tasks

We're Looking For Someone Who Has

  • Bachelor’s degree (business, accounting, finance, economics, or related field)
  • 4+ years experience in finance, accounting, or tax related services and held a senior level role with mentor/training experience
  • Strong analytical skills and detail oriented;
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter who can work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Able to multitask and work to deadlines
  • Experience working with multinational organizations with teams in multiple time zones, include the PST

Bonus Points For

  • Experience with Netsuite and Blackline, India Taxes - GST, RCM, Withholding
  • Background in accounting, billing, finance, taxes
