Your mission

Becoming part of the VIDA Product team means joining on a journey of challenging work at the intersection of technology and social impact. As a (Senior) Geospatial Data Engineer (d/f/m) you will build automated pipelines on a serverless GCP infrastructure to boost our customer success team to deliver analytics to our users. You will join a growing team and have a chance to shape our data engineering unit and pioneer with the latest state-of-the-art data formats and technologies.Your resposibilities:

• Build automated pipelines on the client's serverless GCP infrastructure and Data Warehouses.
• Support the client's customer success team by deliveringanalytics to users through these pipelines.
• Incorporate the latest state-of-the-art data formats and technologies and ensure a clear understanding and application of core data engineeringconcepts. 
• Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Write and maintain code, primarily using Python.
• Work with databases and SQL, primarily for Data Warehouse interactions.

In this role, you will become part ​of our ​Data ​Engineering team and report to our Data Engineering Lead.

Is it you we’re looking for?

• Passion for cloud-based data engineering and cloud-native data formats - ideally you bring 3 years of experience in a fast paced organisation. 
• Understanding of core concepts of data engineering and hands-on experience building ETL/ELT pipelines, interacting with Data Warehouses and orchestration tools such as GCP Workflows.
• Experience with serverless functions (ideally on GCP).
• Strong Python foundation (our whole back-end/data science stack is in Python).
• Experience with Databases / SQL (mostly to be used for Data Warehouse). BigQuery knowledge is a plus.

Nice to haves:

• Experience working with big geospatial data, e.g. familiar with concepts such as raster / vector data, spatial SQL, satellite imagery, STAC, GeoParquet, PMTiles, Cloud Optimized GeoTiffs, vector tile servers, etc.
• Understanding of data science concepts.

We're ideally looking for a candidate who is based in Germany, the Netherlands or United Kingdom. Candidates based in Africa as well as all other European countries are welcome to apply as well.
