Senior Legal Counsel - Employment
We are looking to hire an enthusiastic and tech-savvy Senior Legal Counsel with a proven employment law background to join our fast-paced, dynamic, and fun Legal & Privacy team. The team handles a broad range of often complex and novel matters at the forefront of trust, helping Trustpilot scale across multiple jurisdictions in pursuit of its mission to become a universal symbol of trust.
This is an important and varied role which will involve operating as key contact and trusted legal advisor to our fantastic People & Community Team; overseeing all employment law matters globally (both contentious and non-contentious) and providing frontline support to all strategic projects which have a people impact, at a time when we are enjoying rapid growth and scaling into new markets. For the right candidate, this role will also offer the opportunity to get exposure to broader corporate and commercial legal issues, and to make a real impact to Trustpilot’s future growth.

This role is a hybrid position and can be based from our offices in London, Edinburgh or Copenhagen.
What you’ll be doing:
- Acting as primary point of contact for legal support to our People & Community Team on a wide range of employment, reward and property/office related issues, across multiple jurisdictions.
- Partnering with the People & Community Team leadership on all strategic projects which have a people impact, assisting to shape strategy in this area.
- Horizon scanning for new legislation, to ensure continued compliance with local employment laws as Trustpilot scales globally.
- Strengthening legal and policy frameworks in order to ensure the delivery of a consistent approach to people related issues across the globe, including refreshing and standardising template documents, updating HR policies and delivering training to key stakeholders.
- Acting as SME on employment-law related topics within the Legal & Privacy team and supporting colleagues on topics that sit at the intersection between employment and other legal issues, for example employee privacy rights and litigation.
- Supporting other key stakeholders across the business with a broad variety of corporate, commercial and compliance related matters including M&A, audit and co-sec work.
- Identifying and implementing new, innovative and automated ways of working, utilising technology where possible to create greater operational efficiencies across the wider Legal & Privacy team.
Who you are:
- You have a right to practice law in England & Wales, Scotland or Denmark.
- Ideally you have a minimum of 5 years’ PQE gained in-house (typically in the technology sector), or at a national or international law firm — but we will consider applicants with other PQE.
- You have a comprehensive employment law background, with experience of working across multiple jurisdictions. Ideally, you also have experience advising on non-employment related matters within a commercial setting.
- You are proactive, keen to learn and take responsibility for your own work.
- You have high attention to detail but are pragmatic and pride yourself on your ability to give practical, business-oriented advice.
- You are focused and enjoy the buzz that comes from having multiple matters on the go at the same time.
- You are always looking for ways to improve things and use your own initiative to propose solutions where you identify problems.
- You have extensive organisational and time-management skills, including the ability to navigate multiple demands and work at speed to meet tight deadlines.
- You are collaborative with the ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels across multiple locations.
- You are comfortable working both individually and as part of a team in a fast-paced, global organisation.
- You are an innovative, commercially-minded individual who has an interest in, and desire for new technology, problem-solving and improving process delivery.
- Knowledge of Google suite, MS Word & Excel and DocuSign is desirable.
