Fastly’s Technical Operations (TechOps) team is responsible for building & operating the infrastructure that powers the Fastly Edge Cloud Platform. We oversee an extensive global network that spans 6 continents with over 252 TBps of connected capacity. 

Our platform serves a significant portion of the content delivered to internet consumers across the planet, with customers ranging from online media streaming services to e-commerce, to open source projects, nonprofits and more. We take this responsibility seriously!

Key Responsibilities:

Fastly’s TechOps team is looking for a Senior Manager, Reliability Engineering. In this role you will provide leadership for the team of engineers responsible for driving improved reliability and performance of Fastly edge cloud.

If you have a background in TechOps, DevOps, Network Engineering, or the public cloud space, you have the ideal skills to be successful in this role. You have a fantastic track record leading network and site reliability engineering teams that operate reliable production cloud infrastructure. 

We are looking for a supportive and inspirational leader to help our team meet the demands of rapid global expansion and customer onboarding. As a leader in the Technical Operations organization, you will hire, retain, and mentor engineers to take on the challenges of supporting a platform that is always-on with industry-leading availability and uptime.

What You'll Do:
  • Lead, mentor and develop a Network Reliability Engineering team
  • Reduce administrative overhead and risk by leading reliability and automation efforts for Fastly’s large scale edge cloud platform.
  • Work as part of an extended architecture team for iteration of POP design, API development, hardware selection, and platform advancements.
  • Build and curate the frameworks, processes, and operational procedures that provide added reliability and security to Fastly’s platform.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering and infrastructure teams in support of accurate rapid expansion.
  • Partner with engineering leaders responsible for each component of the Fastly stack and infrastructure to ensure 24x7 reliability for our customers
What We're Looking For:
  • You have a minimum of 12 years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 of those in a direct management role
  • In order to be successful in this role, your experience is specifically in TechOps, DevOps, Network Engineering, or the public cloud space domains

Fastly currently embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles which allows employees flexibility to split their time between the office and home. 

Salary: 

The estimated salary range for this position is $195,720 to $244,640.

Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.

This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly’s equity and discretionary bonus programs.
