Fastly is a leading technology company dedicated to providing a better, faster internet experience. We are seeking a Senior Manager of IT Systems Engineering to enhance internet experiences.

This role entails overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of our company's IT systems and infrastructure. Candidates should possess strong technical skills and leadership qualities.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop a strategic roadmap prioritizing compliance and optimization, plus coordinate the implementation of these projects
  • Oversee access management, application installation/configuration and maintenance of hardware and software supporting the Fastly infrastructure
  • Enforce and monitor the security posture of our systems and devices while making proactive improvements to avoid risk in the future
  • Lead a successful team while also being hands-on keyboards for many critical projects
  • Manage a team of system engineers  to align the IT corporate platforms such as Okta, Jira, with the company’s strategic objectives, ensuring that our technology is robust and flexible enough to accommodate future growth and innovation
  • Play a crucial role in mentoring and guiding your the team; fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement
  • Interface with stakeholders, provide strategic insights and act as a thought leader in adopting technology-driven solutions that enhance our operational efficiency and drive our business forward
  • Possess a solid understanding of cloud infrastructure, complemented by a proven track record of building and operating scalable, highly available services
  • Have the ability to navigate complex technical challenges, coupled with your strategic business acumen, making you adept at leading through change and influencing cross-functional teams to achieve common goals
  • Identify potential areas of risk within IT infrastructure and develop solutions to bridge gaps
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key vendors and partners to ensure the timely delivery of products and services
  • Manage IT projects from inception to completion, including planning, resource allocation, budgeting, and stakeholder communication
  • Establish and maintain IT policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in IT systems engineering, providing recommendations for continuous improvement and innovation

What We're Looking For: 

  • 10+ years of relevant technical experience with 5+ years of experience in leading engineering teams and managing managers
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing teams responsible for developing and operating highly available, and scalable services
  • Hands-on experience in designing, deploying, and managing software solutions in cloud environments is crucial for navigating the technical challenges of high-performance computing systems
  • Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure and services (AWS, Okta, JIRA) 
  • Ability to work with limited resources, tight deadlines and urgency
  • Excellent technical, verbal, and written skills, plus the ability to professionally present technical solutions to leadership
  • Proven track record of delivering complex IT projects on time and within budget, with a focus on quality and customer satisfaction

Work Hours:

This position will require you to be available during core business hours. 

Work Locations & Travel Requirements: 

This position is open to both hybrid and remote work locations.

The preferred hybrid locations for this position are:

  • San Francisco, CA
  • New York, NY
  • Denver, CO

Fastly currently embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles which allows employees flexibility to split their time between the office and home.  

We are willing to consider remote candidates in Ohio.

This position may require travel as required by your role or requested by your manager.

Salary:

The estimated salary range for this position is $142,630 to $209,740. 

Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.

This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly’s equity and discretionary bonus programs.
