We’re looking for maternity cover for a Senior Product Designer to join our customer retention team. This team helps customers stay with us (or come back if they’ve taken a break) by using smart UX, data-driven insights, and best-in-class e-commerce practices.

At Butternut Box, Senior Product Designers are the voice of product design within  their squad. They carry out user research and reiterate based on findings to deliver high converting and retaining digital journeys that meet customer needs as well as commercial goals. In this role, you’ll join an autonomous, cross-functional Product team, working closely with Engineering, and Insight teams. You’ll also collaborate with Marketing, Brand, Proposition, Operations, and Customer Love to ensure we continue delivering a best-in-class experience.

In this role, you can expect to
  • Craft seamless retention experiences – designing intuitive, personalised flows that encourage customers to stay, or return, and engage with Butternut Box.
  • Own the end-to-end design process – from research and ideation, reiteration through to polished UI, ensuring a consistent and high-quality experience across multiple platforms.
  • Make decisions based on real insights – leveraging user research, behavioural insights, and data to inform design decisions that solve real problems and meet commercial goals.
  • Collaborate with an amazing team – evolving our design system, championing best practices, and making sure our digital products look and feel top-notch.
  • Push the design bar higher – pushing the boundaries of UX/UI, evolving our design system, and championing best practices across the team.
  • Iterate at speed – testing, learning, and refining in a fast-paced environment where your work makes a real impact.
  • Help grow our design culture – mentoring, sharing knowledge, and always looking for ways to improve how we work together.
👋 About you
  • Senior-level expertise in user centred product design from discovery to delivery.
  • Strong creative skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Skilled in navigating ambiguity and defining clear design direction.
  • Proven significant ecommerce experience
  • Confident in leading design sprints and ideation workshops.
  • Expert in Figma—including components, properties, auto-layout, and variables.
  • Familiarity with principles of behavioural psychology to optimise user experiences.
  • Data-driven, using research, testing, and A/B experiments.
  • Balances user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.
  • Excellent communicator, influencing at all levels.Passionate about learning, sharing knowledge, and collaboration.
  • Loves dogs. Obviously. 🐶
