A Senior QA reports to a QA Lead. Works closely with QA lead, QA Subject Matter Experts, other QA members, project managers, designers and developers to ensure QA standards and client satisfaction are delivered thought-out the account. A Senior QA is someone that brings analytical thinking and support to the team and QA lead on many tasks. 

Job Location: San José, Costa Rica

 

You will:

  • Is responsible to perform any of the QA tasks with barely any guidance  
  • Plans, conducts and technically directs projects or major phases of significant projects  
  • Responsible of analyze and understand requirements, and design specifications to ensure a quality process 
  • Responsible to attend, lead and/or organize meetings on behalf of team 
  • Responsible to promote and evaluate QA values and principles not only for the QA team but for everyone in the company and our clients. 
  • Support QA lead to work and motivate other team members in a team-oriented and collaborative environment with both technical and non-technical team members 
  • Responsible to communicate test results, issues, and risks to project team members, project managers, and QA management through the different channels 
  • Responsible to promote effective communication, a sense of participation and involvement amongst QA members. 
  • Responsible of test data identification 
  • Creating and maintaining comprehensive test plans  
  • Writing and maintaining test cases/scripts following high quality standards
  • Create traceability matrix documents based upon project requirements
  • Create checklist documentation based upon project requirements
  • Performing functional and non-funtional testing  
  • Effectively communicating statuses  
  • Develop test design documents to cover requirements
  • Plan and schedule test activities to ensure quality
  • Apply industry standard testing methodology, strategies and industry best practices
  • Create defect tickets and track issues to resolution and risk analysis of said issues
  • Report creation and related metrics at different levels
  • Overseeing, delegating and coordinating work to other QA Associates and apprentices, as needed.
  • Development of junior staff members
  • Creating and executing regression tests based on design specifications and requirements  
  • Conducting research into new technologies, including tools, components, and frameworks related to QA
  • Support QA Lead in QA estimations
  • Responsible to identify with the QA lead areas where automation tools can be applied for the benefit of the project
  • Identify and raise risks
  • Supports the QA lead on onboarding, coaching and mentoring activities. 

 

You have:

  • English Proficiency (B2+ reading, writing, and conversation) 
  • Minimun 5 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance  
  • Strong working experience creating test cases
  • Knowledge of Agile Methodologies for software development 
  • Experience working with local and offshore teams 
  • Experience in task management and defect tracking tools like Jira and/or similar 
  • Extensive knowledge of Windows or MacOS software  
  • Mastery of office productivity tools such as Excel, Word, MS Project, Visio, and PowerPoint. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or related field or equivalent work experience is a plus
  • ISTQB Certification or other QA related certifications are a plus 
  • Knowledge of Photoshop and Adobe illustrador are a plus.
