As a Senior Robotics Hardware Engineer (m/f/d), you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of autonomous robotic systems at idealworks. You will lead hardware development initiatives, mentor junior engineers, and drive innovation across multidisciplinary teams. Your expertise will be critical in delivering robust, scalable, and safety-compliant hardware solutions for our cutting-edge robotic platforms.
Role Responsibilities: What you will do- Hardware Architecture Leadership: Lead the design and development of complex hardware architectures for robotic systems, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Cross-Functional Integration: Drive system-level integration by collaborating with software, mechanical, and electrical teams to align hardware components with overall product goals.
- Prototyping & Validation: Oversee prototyping efforts and lead rigorous testing and validation processes to ensure hardware meets functional and safety standards.
- Technical Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior hardware engineers, fostering technical growth and best practices across the team.
- Advanced Debugging & Optimization: Lead root-cause analysis and resolution of hardware issues, implementing long-term solutions and design improvements.
- Documentation & Compliance: Ensure thorough documentation of hardware designs, specifications, and testing procedures. Champion compliance with relevant safety standards and directives.
- Innovation & Strategy: Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, proposing strategic enhancements to hardware systems and development processes.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a key technical liaison with internal and external stakeholders, translating business needs into robust engineering solutions.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in hardware engineering within robotics or autonomous systems, with a proven track record of leading hardware development projects.
- Deep expertise in designing and integrating hardware for autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) or similar complex systems.
- Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Proficiency in EPLAN (Electric P8) for electrical schematics and documentation.
- Solid understanding of hardware safety standards: ISO 60204, ISO 12100, ISO 3691-4, ISO 13849-1, and Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.
- Advanced knowledge in:
- Battery Management Systems (BMS) for power efficiency and safety.
- Motor and drive systems, including motor control and optimization.
- Vision sensors (Lidars, cameras) for perception and navigation.
- Control systems for precise robotic movement.
- Communication protocols used in robotic platforms.
