Senior SaaS Operations Engineer            

Fastly is searching for a Sr. SaasOps Engineer to support our in-office and remote Fastlyans. Keeping our IT infrastructure running effectively, securely, and up to date is critical for the day-to-day tasks of every employee. You will have significant experience in supporting a fast-paced, high-growth environment. You are comfortable working as part of a distributed team and will be supporting the operations in our Global offices.

You have previous experience as a Systems Administrator, combined with advanced Service Desk capabilities. You are streamlined and detail-oriented while being able to identify broken processes and provide solutions. You are someone who has touched all aspects of a large SaaS environment and can scale along with the company. On top of your validated history of success, you have a passion for technology and, like us, you value hard work and fun in equal measure.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex information systems, ensuring high availability, security, and performance. 
  • Proactively identify and mitigate potential system vulnerabilities and performance bottlenecks
  • Develop and implement strategies for optimizing system architecture and infrastructure
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, providing technical guidance and support
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., product, security) to define and implement solutions that meet business objectives
  • Drive innovation by researching and evaluating new technologies and recommending their adoption
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for systems and processes
  • Provide expert-level support and troubleshooting for critical system issues
  • Contribute to the development of engineering best practices and standards.

Experience & Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in IT support roles, with at least 5+ years in a senior or lead engineering position 
  • Deep understanding of system architecture, design patterns, and best practices
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams
  • Strong experience with cloud-based IT environments (Google Workspace, Zoom, Slack, GitHub, Atlassian, etc.), with advanced domain knowledge of Okta
  • Experience with automation tools and scripting languages for system administration tasks
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to align technology solutions with business objectives and drive positive business outcomes
  • Experience in evaluating the business impact of technology decisions and making data-driven recommendations

We value a variety of voices, so this is not a laundry list. It would be an added bonus if you have experience in ANY of these:

  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)
  • Certifications relevant to the role (e.g., Okta Certified Professional,  Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect).

Fastly currently embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles which allows employees flexibility to split their time between the office and home.

Salary:

The estimated salary range for this position is $129,470 to $179,820. 

Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.

This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly’s equity and discretionary bonus programs.
