As a Sr. Specialist Solutions Engineer (Sr.SSE) - Data Governance, you will guide customers in adopting Unity Catalog (a unified data governance solution) and Delta Sharing (a secure data sharing platform) on Databricks for a variety of different customers. You will be in a customer-facing role, working with and supporting the Solution Architects, which requires production deployment experience with data governance solutions and hands-on experience with cloud data lakes. You will help customers learn how to use our products to govern their files, tables, machine learning models, and dashboards in the cloud and to collaborate using our sharing technologies. As a deep go-to-expert reporting to the Specialist Field Engineering Manager, you will continue to strengthen your technical skills through mentorship, learning, and internal training programs and establish yourself in the area of data governance within Databricks.

The impact you will have:
- Provide technical leadership to guide strategic customers to successful implementations on Unity Catalog and Delta Sharing, ranging from advisory and design to deployment to troubleshooting.
- Understand the built-in roles and identity concepts in Databricks, and how to map those to fit organizational requirements.
- Communicate and educate customers on organizational models of governance and how they map to usage of data governance products in Databricks.
- Assist Solution Architects with more advanced aspects of the technical sale including pilot advisory services, custom proof of concept content, estimating workload sizing, and custom architectures.
- Provide tutorials and training to improve community adoption (including hackathons and conference presentations)
- Contribute to the Databricks Community
- 3+ years experience in a technical role with expertise in data governance or data management.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience through work experience.
- Experience designing data solutions on cloud infrastructure and services, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP using best practices in cloud security and networking.
- Production deployment experience with data governance solutions and hands-on experience with cloud data lakes including managing Identity Access Management (IAM) and Identity providers
- Production programming experience in SQL and Python, Scala, or Java.
- 2 years professional experience with Big Data technologies (Ex: Spark, Hadoop, Kafka) and architectures
- 2 years customer-facing experience in a pre-sales or post-sales role
- Can meet expectations for technical training and role-specific outcomes within 6 months of hire
- This role can be remote, but we prefer that you are located in the job listing area and can travel up to 30% when needed.
