Our dynamic tax team is seeking a highly motivated, experienced tax professional to join our bustling Chicago office. As part of a global organization, you will collaborate with colleagues from around the world and across various business functions. This role is based out of our Chicago office with an expectation to work in the office a portion of each week.
What You’ll Do:
- Serve as the primary tax advisor for the Venture Capital and Wireless Infrastructure business units, providing comprehensive tax insights and guidance
- Partner with cross-functional teams across the organization to integrate a tax perspective into key business decisions, ensuring alignment with strategic goals
- Track and analyze developments in tax laws and regulations, assess their impact on the organization, and advise on solutions to both optimize compliance and leverage opportunities
- Manage and review the preparation of direct and indirect tax workpapers and returns, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Coordinate with internal team members and external service providers throughout the year to complete all necessary filings.
- Collaborate closely with the Finance team to ensure accurate reporting of income tax provisions and other tax-related items with financial statement impact.
- Support the Global Head of Tax by mentoring and developing team members, fostering a high-performing and knowledgeable tax team.
- Collaborate with team members to address transfer pricing matters, including documentation and compliance with global standards.
- Identify, develop, and implement technology-driven improvements that enhance tax processes, increase efficiency, and reduce risk.
- Additional duties as assigned or needed.
Skills You'll Need:
- At least ten years of tax experience, preferably in one or more of the following areas:
- Financial Services (e.g. venture capital funds, private equity funds, trading firms)
- Technology or Telecommunications with globally distributed infrastructure
- BS/BA in Accounting preferred
- CPA and/or MST preferred
- Proven experience researching tax issues and communicating results
- Able to work both independently and in a team to define and resolve issues
- Exhibit good judgment in ambiguous situations; resilient, flexible, and conscientious
- Possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and an inquisitive mind
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate and build strong relationships across teams and departments within and outside the organization.
- Able to multitask and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
- Impeccable ethics, integrity, and ability to work with confidential information are required
